Product Description

Amazon.com Review

By combining a main unit that displays the indoor temperature and the temperature from a remote, wireless sensor that can be set up either indoors or outdoors up to 100 feet away, this battery-operated, radio-wave set monitors conditions at two locations simultaneously. (The main unit will handle up to two additional remote, wireless sensors, though those must be ordered separately.) The large LCD display shows the temperature at the main unit's location on the left and the temperature at the remote sensor's location on the right. Minimum/maximum temperatures recorded for any given period can be recalled, and the measuring period can be reset at any time. The display can be set for either Fahrenheit or Celsius. The remote sensor also has been preprogrammed to sound an alarm when the temperature at its location falls to 38 degrees F--ideal for, say, a garden or garage. The main unit uses two AAA batteries and the remote sensor one 9V battery (batteries not included). The main unit comes with a desktop stand or can be hung by a nail or screw with a wall-mount slot in the back. It measures 5 inches wide, 3 inches high, and 7/8 inch deep. The remote sensor has a built-in desktop stand or can be wall mounted and measures 2-3/8 inches wide, 3-1/2 inches high, and 1 inch thick. Because no assembly is required, the system operates as soon as batteries are installed. --Fred Brack

1.0 out of 5 stars frustrating design, April 6, 2002

Neat idea, but frustrating design. When freeze alarm beeps you must press a certain button to stop it. When it sounds in middle of night it is difficult to find that specific button. Be nice if it had a "silent" mode. If you do press the wrong button, you have reset it--which is not a simple button click. You have to unscrew the back and reset the transmitter unit as well. Not worth it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Friedricks Guppe Wireless Thermometer, July 28, 2002
This review is from: Dr. Friedrichs Gruppe 696000 Wireless Thermometer (Lawn & Patio)
I only today received this item so I have no long term experience to report. However, the description refers to the capability to use 3 transmitters but neither the data furnished with my purchase nor anything I have been able to locate gives me enough information to allow me to purchase another transmitter.

2.0 out of 5 stars Infernal Beeping, June 24, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Dr. Friedrichs Gruppe 696000 Wireless Thermometer (Lawn & Patio)
If you live in a tropical climate than you are ok, but if you live where the temperature dropps below 40'F don't buy this product. The ice warning is a infernal high pitched beeping which sets off the glass break alarms on my security system. There is no stopping the beep. It is a "built in feature". You have to "destroy" the speeker to get it to stop. Don't get this product. I would suggest the other version that doesn't beep. Other than this it is a pretty accurate (sometimes off a little) but other than that it works well.
