Great Book!,
By Justin (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Friendly Dialogue Between an Atheist and a Christian (Paperback)
This book is unique!
With so many titles out there discussing Atheism and Christianity, this is the first I have read that openly, honestly, and respectfully looks at both sides of the arguement. Each author is well-versed in their approach and understanding of the topic, and give great insight for someone interested in this normally volatile subject. It's an easy read, yet profound. Don't miss it.

It really is a Friendly Dialogue,
By Karen C. Beverage "cartooncrazy" (South Lake Tahoe, CA United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: A Friendly Dialogue Between an Atheist and a Christian (Paperback)
I just finished reading A Friendly Dialogue earlier today. I was absolutely astounded by the words of Palau and Zhao. As a Christian, I was able to really appreciate the depth of Palau's knowledge of Christian Theology. But I was even more affected by the athiest physicist, Zhao Qizheng, and everything he had to say. I have never really paid attention before. This book is a brilliant start to what this world probably needs most: dialogue between peoples of different beliefs. Originally to be called "A Confrontation between an Athiest and a Christian", the renamed "Friendly Dialogue" is a much more apt title for one of the most interresting and informative conversations I've read.
This truly is a must read for Christians, Athiest, Chinese, Americans, and anyone interrested in opening the doors for communication.

Eye Opening Dialogue,

A well-balanced book that goes into enough detail to produce a desire to learn more. Very eye opening concerning the views of an extreme Athiest vs a Fundamentalist Christian.
If you have ever wanted to see a balanced debate between the two sides, this is the book to read.

Nice pictures but disappointing text,

This review is from: A Friendly Dialogue Between an Atheist and a Christian (Paperback)
This book is a composite of recorded dialogues between Evangelist Luis Palau and scientist and Chinese diplomat Zhao Qizheng. It's a colourful book with pictures on most pages, some of which appear to have little link with the text. The dialogues themselves were rather disappointing as they were so short - Palau and Qizheng discuss philosophy, the Bible, history, science, creation and culture but in such brief terms that I felt I'd learned almost nothing. The two authors clearly got on well although some of their interactions seemed toe-curlingly syncophantic and the text was beset by typesetting errors which were distracting to this reader. I finished the book not entirely sure of why it was published as it didn't really get to the meat of any issues of difference between atheists and Christians, China and the West.

Great Read for Olympic Prep!,

This review is from: A Friendly Dialogue Between an Atheist and a Christian (Paperback)
I picked up this book as an American aware of who Luis Palau is, but not having heard of coauthor Zhao Qizheng. I wanted to read up on Chinese culture a bit since the Olympics are coming up in August.
I am pleasantly surprised by the breadth of subjects they discuss. From creation to "religion and the spirit" to "Chinese and Western cultures and philosophy" to science and social harmony. I enjoy their differences in perspective. Their insights are quite thought-provoking. Well worth the read! I wish everyone with different - even opposing - views could interact this way. (I also feel more aware of Chinese culture and thought now as I try to score my ticket to the Olympics ...)

Decency - at last!,

So I seriously don't get the pictures in this book. But it is nice to finally read a book where the people have totally different view points - yet respect each other. We could all learn a little something from these guys...

A Friendly dialogue between an athiest and a christian,

An easy read with mind opening points. It's great to see how two knowledgeable people can discuss a hot issue with great respect for each other's perspectives and not get into a heated debate.

Finally, a refreshing dialogue...,

between two mature and well educated men. We will not all agree on the existance of man or our purpose in life BUT, we do all need to live in the same world. I think we should take these two men's example. Instead of trying to get our own points of view heard, let's start listening... then we will be able to really have an open, honest, respectful dialogue. Quick, easy and thought provoking read!

Neither of these two gave an insight as to why they believe what they say
they do. The Atheist said he is a materialist. The Christian said he beleves in the Bible. Both were PC and said we should try to accept each others point of view. Big deal!

INTERESTING BOOK,

I LOVED THIS BOOK! I love the way Luis Palau's Christian point of view and the other guy's Atheist point of view were well counterbalanced. This comment might be biased though because I am a Christian myself. There was an equal amount of respect to both Atheists and Christians. The title of the book was what got me to read the book in the first place. I would agree that it is an appropriate title since it's literally the whole book is a dialogue between an atheist and christian and neither insulted the others' beliefs
