Friendly fire in the civil war,
By
This review is from: Friendly Fire in the Civil War: More Than 100 True Stories of Comrade Killing Comrade (Hardcover)
In this book Webb Garrison has compiled a number of incidents in which soldiers fired upon men from their own side, be it in a large battle, a skirmish, or an act upon a lone individual. Although he has consulted numerous works and records, it is most likely that due to fog-of-war or willful supression that the incidents about which he writes are but a fraction of those that occurred. Friendly Fire in the Civil War is an interesting book, and not without its merits. But overall I find that there is just something about Garrison's writing that makes his books too simplistic, and therefore difficult to read.
