***I received a copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review***

This book is truly a treasure and is a must have for anyone who cheers for the underdog. Allison is a computer nerdy who works for her brother, Nick and his best friend, Jared at Frontline Securities. But what she wants more than anything is fit in and a makeover. So she goes to Jared to ask for his help, but when he turns her down, she asks her best friend Colleen for help. However, she might not want to go to the make up counter when they've both had a bottle of wine to drink. Jared realizes that Allison is serious as takes her to Margarite for a total make over that really opens his eyes that even though he's known Allison forever maybe if he takes a chance he too will find what was missing from his life too.

What happens when two friends decide to see if their attraction is more than friendly with lots of Hershey's Kisses, Penguins (Al loves them), Sunday dinners with Dad and Gramps, which are hilarious, and will Allison accept Jared's gift of a pebble for their happy ever after? Can Nick and Jared find a middle ground when their friendship is tested because Jared cares for Allison? You'll have to read the book to find out all the answers because its a a wonderful book that will have you laughing, shedding a couple of tears but mostly falling in love with Jared and Allison

My goodness, I certainly seem to be running into the ugly duckling trope lately. Either it's just a fluke or there was a whole slew of them published at around the same time. However, I still enjoyed most of this book.

Allison - Totally and completely a geek with very limited knowledge of how to any of the traditional "make me girly looking" procedures. I totally heart her for that. If my mother hadn't been a Mary Kay consultant who left me with some lingering memories of how to do things properly, I'd probably be in a similar place as Allison. I liked how she turned to her brother's friend and asked for his help and even after he turned her down, ultimately accepted his help when he saw how badly she needed it. The only thing I really had a problem with was just how absolutely over the top Nick was when he found out about the growing relationship between the two of them. Still, Allison worked through the issue in an innovative fashion.

Jared - he's more or less a good guy. He's understandably concerned about the fallout (rightfully so) given his best friend is also his business partner and Allison's over-protective older brother. Still, he can't, won't, and doesn't when Allison's first attempt at a makeover bombs so spectacularly. I really give the man props for stepping in the way he did to help her overcome her makeup challenges.

These two had to figure things out for themselves and I think they both grew nicely as individuals, along with growing into a couple, over the course of the book.

I enjoyed myself thoroughly, which isn't unusual at all for an Entangled book. They've come to be my go-to publisher for both contemporary and paranormal. Hope you enjoy.

Alison is tired to be outside girl. She is feeling like invisible everywhere she is showing up no one notices her. She is working for her brother Nick and his friend Jared in their tech company. Alison is confident when it comes to her work, but her social life especially her love life sucks. She is powerless when it comes to her look, and she want to change that. She wants complete different image about her, but that is the problem she doesn’t have a female or someone to helps her. Her mother dies she has her brother, her father, and grandfather and no one couldn’t assist her with her intention. She asks her friend Jared for help.
This is cute, romance book. I enjoy reading it about Alison changes. I like how she transforms from an ugly duckling in a swan. I like how she is so persistent, and she knows what she wants. I didn’t like how the story goes slow in the first half of the book, but that doesn’t stop me to read it whole and enjoy in it. The first half of the book is all about changes and need about it, but then the story goes a little bit faster with some turns which I expected.
Alison is young woman dedicated to her work, but in that particular part of her life, she wants changes. She wants to feel love. She is withdrawn and little bit fearful when it comes to her social life. She thinks that is because of her look, so she wants to change her look and trough it to change her social status from single to engage.
Jared is a fateful friend, but he is like part of the family. I like how he is persistent and full of understanding.
Nick is an overprotective brother; I understand his wish to protect his sister, but I don’t approve such behavior.
I recommend this book to the romantic lovers it is slow, but the exhibiting fullness of thoughts.

A Friendly Flirtation takes a couple of my favorite tropes-friends to lovers and brother's best friend-and puts them together, then adds in a nice dash of sexual tension for good measure. When all is said and done, what you get is a really good story with strong characters that keeps you interested and maybe just a little bit frustrated.

I really liked Jared's character, he comes across as the perfect guy-a player ready to leave that kind of lifestyle behind who is self-assured (and even a bit cocky) and sexy, and...well...just one of those perfect guys. Allison I could totally relate to, which endeared me to her character. Some of my frustration crept in when neither of them would just brave telling the other their true feelings (not really, it's all about the makeover and finding Allison a guy). The other part of my frustration was with Nick, Allison's brother--he's a bit overprotective and just doesn't get that he is.

But Allison and Jared fit well together, and once things get going their chemistry really starts to spark. This makes for some hot and steamy scenes, and also opens them both up to heartbreak...so be ready for some emotional ups and downs.

Even though this type of story can be found all over (there's a reason friends-to-more and brother's best friend stories are so popular), A Friendly Flirtation still came across as unique to me. The smooth writing gave the story an excellent flow, and before I knew it I'd stayed up past my bedtime to finish it.

This was a solid 4-star read for me, and I'd definitely recommend it to any contemporary romance fan-especially if you are a fan of these tropes. The author does a great job with them, resulting in a truly enjoyable read. This is for the 18+ crowd due to adult language and sexual content.
