Fabulous!,
By Portia (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Friendly Pressure (1998 Sunship Remixes) (Audio CD)
It is a tragic indictment on the priorities and commerciality of todays music scene that Jhelisa is not sitting in a Hollywood mansion eating peeled grapes fed to her by naked well built men and rolling around in her money a la Mariah Carey. She is superb, this song should be compulsory listening for every woman. I first heard it on an Acid Jazz compilation and was so moved by the slow groove and power which came from her voice that I rushed out and ordered Galactica Moods. Jhelisa is articulate, passionate, heartfelt and powerful - but above all she is a vocal siren. People - spend your money and lets all get rid of the Mariah's and Celine's that plague popular music and give more power to aristes like Jhelisa!

A agree with Portia from Atlanta. People with open hearts and minds will love this very original song. Her CD "Galactica Rush" is like a well cut diamond and is sure to stand the test of time. Jhelisa is a true artist in a time where record companies are trying to drown us with mindless entertainment. Along with Lauryn Hill and Me'Shell she is one of the greatest artists out there. Unlike Lauryn and Me'Shell, she is not backed by a major record label.

Jhelisa - Friendly Pressure (1998 Sunship Remixes),
This review is from: Friendly Pressure (1998 Sunship Remixes) (Audio CD)
It was rumored the Jhelisa wasn't too pleased with the two-step mixes of her classic FRIENDLY PRESSURE, but in the able hands of Sunship, she shouldn't have worried. The "Into the Sunshine" mix is pure garage sunshine, while the "From Midnight" mix delves into moody breaks. The original is here, of course, as it rightly should, as well as the "Quiet Storm" mix from Big Fat & Juicy, who lead the track into easygoing R&B. Friendly, indeed!

Try Friendly Pressure on for size. It takes me back to a balmy summer in NYC, circa 1995, when this song first hit our airwaves; man, nobody can transport the soul like this girl can.
