5.0 out of 5 stars Great Korean / Japanese Drama, February 12, 2006
This review is from: Friends [Region 2] (DVD)
Starring: Won Bin & Fukada Kyoko

Story Line:
Tomoko Asahi (Kyoko Fukada) and Kim Ji-Hyun(heart-throb (Won Bin) meet by accident in Hong Kong after Tomoko's purse is snatched and Tomoko runs down Ji-Hyun accusing him as the thief since he wears the same baseball cap & knocks him down. They eventually become friends since Tomoko has no money & is starving so Ji-Hyun feels sorry for her even though he totally resents being knocked down & wants nothing to do with her, he takes her to his aunt's Korean restaurant where upon he try's to give her payback by ordering her an Extra Hot & Spicey Tofu stew but is taken completely surprised when she loves it. Later when each of them went back to their own country (Japan and Korea respectively), they corresponded via email. Gradually, they fall in love with each other, they can't live without each other.

Having to sustained a long-distance relationship isn't easy; Ji Hyun's parents (who are very Rich) are very against Ji Hyun having a Japanese girl as a girlfriend. Ji Hyun is the eldest son, his parents had very high expectations of him of marrying a nice Korean girl from a Proper Influential Family and of taking over the Family Business plus alot of Koreans Totally Hate Japanese for 50 years of Colonization & Hardships. Ji Hyun wasn't sure if he could give Tomoko happiness, so he finally bows down to family pressures & gives her up.

A Few years later, they meet again in Korea. Love rekindles and they realize they couldn't love another person. They decided to go against all odds to be together.

This is a very romantic and touching drama, Tomoko picked up Korean language so that she could speak the same language as Ji Hyun. Their parting was sad. Won Bin is so cute in this drama, you'll like him after watching this drama! They are both Heart-throbs in Asia & Kyoko is a pop-star.
