sexy music for fall.,

I've been a fan of dionne,s since the heartbreaker days and this effort here just makes me love her all the more! This is great music for anyone who likes to listen to good music on a fall evening and feel sexy! And the duet with cousin nippy is pure pop delight! So all of you twenty-somethings out there trying to keep up with the gen-x croud by listening to the n-stinc's and the britney whats-her-faces; knock it off! We still have pros out there like dionne giving us good solid material that fits our age without sounding out dated and stale.Which in my personal opinion good music never gets old; this cd here is one for the shelf. Dionne has'nt sounded this good since "love power", my ultimate favorite tune by her. Thanks to amazon.com theres still hope for people like me who loves good music. Well now I know where to find it!

Smooth & Sexy Music,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Friends Can Be Lovers (Audio CD)
Why this album did not go platinam is a mistery to me, but this album rocks!!! From the singles, the lustful "Where My Lips Have Been" and the smooth soul ballad "Love Will Find a Way" feat. Whitney Houston to soulful & funky songs like "'Tll The End of Time", "Much Too Much", "Fragile" and "Friends Can Be Lovers." This is music that will arouse the lover in you. Dionne's voice is sultry and smooth throughout the album. This is truely a keeper! If you like Lisa Stansfield, Sade, etc., you will love this album. Buy "Friends Can Be Lovers" today, you won't regret it!!!

Dionne Still Has It!,

This is a must have recording for any Dionne Warwick fan. I have been a fan of Dionne Warwick since back to the "Don't Make me Over" days. Dionne still has what it takes to stir my soul and make me sing! The sounds are fresher and updated for a 90's sound, but still contain the definitive Dionne sound that we all love. Thank you Dionne Warwick for still shining as the original pop music Diva!

Cool Music From A Diva,

This review is from: Friends Can Be Lovers (Audio CD)
This highly underrated album from Dionne Warwick was released back in 1993. It is some of her best work. Produced by Burt Bacharach, Barry J. Eastmond (Freddie Jackson, Melba Moore, Meli'sa Morgan) Ivan Devney & Andy Morris (Lisa Stansfield) and David Elliot, among others, this set was a welcomed change from the material she'd done in the past. Check out "Til The End Of Time," "Where My Lips Have Been," "Friends Can Be Lovers," "Much Too Much," "The Woman That I Am," and the duet with cousin Whitney Houston, "Love Will Find A Way." If Arista had pushed this album as Dionne's return to R&B/Pop, it might have been a success. Regardless of the lack of commercial success, this is indeed some of Dionne's best work. Not since the "Heartbreaker" album (produced by Barry Gibb) and the "Two Ships Passing In The Night" album (produced by Luther Vandross) has she sounded so good. She seems to really feel the music. One can tell she really enjoyed what she was singing about. We get the new and the old ("Sunny Weather Lover") Dionne Warwick. A nice collection added to a very steller career.

Dionne Warwick, always appears to know how to hit the mark when it comes to recording, good music. This cd is very good work, and flows from one great song to another. Another the styles and muscial arrangements( as produceres and writers)change form song to song this does don't phase the classic vocalist, she is up to the challenge and simply blows the songs away. In particular are her cover of Sting's "Fragile", and the funky"Til the End of Time". For anyone you may think that Dionne can only sing love songs you will be in for a great surprise with the variety of songs and music genres covered. So go out and buy this Cd to hear what a great vocalist can sound like when given the room to grow. Many of today's younger vocalist could learn alot from this lady!!!!!

Hidden Treasures-Yuppies Find,

How can you lose when 2 "angels" put their voices together. Well, Whitney and Dionne did get their act together and in fact did one mighty heart soaring rendition on "Love will find a way"; but sadly enough, not much of a promotion by the way of a Single release was attempted by Arista to capitalise on this really rare duet by 2 big mega stars. The album itself shines like the sun and should have had been a hit for Dionne, but somehow, the obvious did not materialise. It is sad, not for Dionne, as she makes music as an artiste regardless of its hit potential, but for the listening public to be deprived of some of the coolest and most yuppie styled arrangements in music choices this album has to offer. Perhaps a second revival with the airwaves in this depressing times might rejuvenate the senses for the new century. A definite yuppie must-have if you dig true class and style.

Sensual Music From A Cool Diva,
This review is from: Friends Can Be Lovers (Audio CD)
Friends Can Be Lovers is one of Dionne's most underrated and most lovable creations in her catalogue- right next to No Night So Long. Every song is sexy from Sunny Weather Lover To I Sing At Dawn. Being hip is something that alot of young ones thought that Dionne could not pull off but she actually does. Employing Lisa Stansfield to back her on the title track was splendid. All the songs are top notch. As usual, music evolves to the in thing and leave people like Dionne, Gladys and others to scrap the pieces. Get this! Grade: A+++

HIGHLY UNDER-RATED SET AMONG WARWICK'S BEST EVER!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Friends Can Be Lovers (Audio CD)
Review by Kirk Douglas ProvoMuch is being said in the 90s about the glory days of years gone by -- and a lot of it can be considered fact. However, if the talk about R&B pop divas leads to reference of vocalist Dionne Warwick, one should listen to the entire "Friends Can Be Lovers" album before reaching opinion, as (to this writer's ears at least) this recording is perhaps the best record she has done in awhile. Right from the warm and pretty Burt Bacharach/Hal David reunion tune "Sunny Weather Lover" to the concluding tones of "I Sing At Dawn" there is no question that Warwick feels relaxed and happy to be singing good songs. (She even wrote the English lyrics to the spellbinding "I Sing At Dawn"!) The singer shines in this jam-packed set of would-be hit singles. Had Arista, say, put their marketing dollars behind Warwick instead of cousin Whitney Houston . . . the possibilities are endless. All-around the project the ! ! singer shines and offers hope in these desperate times of little faith. "Age Of Miracles" may be a hard pill to swallow, admittedly, but songs like the clever, bouncy "Where My Lips Have Been" and the cliché-ridden but stylish "Love Will Find A Way", with Houston are proof that good pop music is still being made. "Til The End Of Time" offers up a funky Dionne who actually comes correct when she commands: "Break it on down now!" towards the catchy tune's coda. "The Woman That I Am" is intelligent music, as is the effectively under-stated rendering of Sting's "Fragile". This is certainly another disc to add to a list of "lost desert island" take-alongs! KDP

An undeservedly obscure chapter in Dionne's catalog.,

This review is from: Friends Can Be Lovers (Audio CD)
Dionne Warwick's singing style was (sadly) simply outdated for the Pop and R&B markets by the time of this CD's release in 1993. It's also shameful because this is a strong and powerful set that touches and soothes the listener's heart and soul. The jazzy and moody ballad "Captives Of The Heart" should have been a major hit.
