This book was a pleasant surprise from other books in this genre. It was sweet, as well as spicy, and so comical. I just loved it. The characters in this book took you for one wild ride. I don't think I will ever forget it.

This is mainly Jillian's story. She is a romance writer and recently divorced. She caught her husband cheating. Her experience with men since has been a bit of a disaster. Jillian's son Rob and his best friend Brian end up coming home from college on their spring break. Brian and Jillian end up spending some time together during that time. There is a mutual attraction, yet they don't want to act on it. They have so much in common and are a really great match. She is his best friends mother. He is her son's best friend. Not the ideal situation for a romance. Brian is hung up on Natalie someone he had started a relationship with at college. Getting to know Jillian has given him more of a perspective into what he really wants out of a relationship. You can say that Jillian has really introduced him to what could be. The funny thing is the age difference between them is the last thing they worry about. It's Rob Jillian's son, he is so clueless to what has transpired between them. Rob is too caught up in his relationship with his girlfriend Laura to notice.

Through the entire book I was so rooting for Brian and Jillian. They were so humorous whenever they were together. Everyone wants to be with someone that you can laugh and joke around with. This was what they were just themselves. So comfortable and carefree. I just adored them and just about everything in the book. It was so refreshing to read a book that was far from the angst ridden tear jerker books I have been reading as of late. This book will definitely lift you spirits. Really you will be laughing out loud to these characters antics. I look forward to reading more in this series. This book was so great. If you want a light, humorous, and don't forget a sweet and spicy read, well this is so what you want to read. So go for it. I did and am so glad I did.

I would just like to start this review out with a link to an article which gives a clear description of Romance vs Erotica vs Porn:
[...]

I do this because when I read a lot of the unfavorable reviews, the main re-occuring complaint is that it is "porn," with lots of gratuitous and graphic sex. This, however, is simply not true. It is so not true that it in fact makes me wonder if these reviewers even read the same book as me, because the book that I read did not even HAVE a sex scene in it until it hit the 76% done mark. And then it barely described it, instead making reference to it happening, how good it was, their emotional reactions etc, and then moving on to the next morning. There is no graphic description at all.
The story actually centers on the relationship and growing feelings of the two protagonists as opposed to graphic sex scenes, which "porn" writing does. Granted, this relationship starts with extreme physical attraction, lots of nudity, and loads of guilty temptation, but not a single sex act. At least not until there is a scene involving self-stimulation, but that again is not very graphic at all.
Another complaint I see in reviews is an obsession with Anal sex, while there is in fact not a single scene involving anal sex. It comes up in discussion with each of the female characters, but more in the "I do that" or "i have never wanted to do that," or "I haven't done that but I will let you do that" sort of way. There is one point where the author does report that a couple attempted to try it, but they weren't into it and then just moved on.
The one complaint/observation that I will grant is that a number of terms and phrases are overly used, i.e. "he marveled at her perfect ass" is mentioned in various forms it seems about a hundred times.
I think why people may react so strongly to this book is because the two characters should be "off-limits" to each other, which just adds a large portion of fuel to the respective fires of the characters. That and they are both unbelievably attractive, which is of course par for course in erotic romance.
But that is what Friends With Partial Benefits is: erotic-romance, not pornography. So if anybody tells you different, have them read that article linked above and then tell you how this book primarily deals with graphic descriptions of Dirty Sex to the detriment of character, relationship, or plot development.

Part humor, part romance, part erotica, and ALL enjoyable. I had a hard time putting this one down and enjoyed it from the first page to the last. The author skillfully makes even tennis which I care nothing about entirely fun to read about. The characters felt real and were easy to identify with. You will be mentally cheering on the main characters the whole time. While not in any way kid friendly it never goes so far as to feel like literary porn. Mostly focusing on the teasing and foreplay it was beyond hot. There is quite a bit of humor to be found here as well, though not as much as there was in "Shrinkage" which I also highly recommend. Luke Young has definitely earned his spot on my list of favorite authors.

Allow me to start by saying that for me Luke Young is the male Janet Evanovich. His words flow so smoothly and constantly, while the chapters just fly by leaving you wanting more. Victoria, Brian and Jillian have the most awesome misadventures. I couldn't put the kindle down and read the entire series in 2 days. I can not wait for the new book to be written.

This is the beginning to a great series of books. You get pulled in and laugh at every turn of the pages, you are surprised at the twists and turns it takes. You will want to read every book just to see where he dares to go with it, and are no disappointed. Some of the funniest stuff you will ever read.

It was suppose to be a romantic comedy. I find nothing funny about a middle aged woman getting excited about her son's friend from college when she sees his penis(by accident). I would pray my son nor his friend would never find out. I stopped reading at the point she tells her kinky friend. Not my kind of book. I'm deleting it from my Kindle. I'm not a prude but this story is just too much.

I think the author has good language skills. Not sure how I got this book now. It's definitely a throw back to bad '80s concept of women in guy films. Definitely genitalia centric. Would like to see if author has books not genitalia centric since there are signs of writing and storytelling skill though the story will have to be mapped out and developed better. 1 star for hope.

I cannot believe those glowing reviews on this so-called book. It's soft porn at best with the plot revolving around a kid's college room mate and his mother getting together. Even free it was a rip-off.

Horrible garbage. As a writer myself, I don't like giving bad reviews but this was just garbage! Basically soft porn in a book... I wish I could rate it half a star. So disappointed that I read the book thinking that it would get better but IT DIDN'T. And the end of the book was worse. OMG. Several times I was lost and the story jumped from one situation to another without a transition and the characters weren't believable. The entire book was about unnecessary sex. Really?? Do not purchase this book.

I happened across this series and it peeked my interest immediately. I was hooked. It was a sexy hot book to read and can't wait to get my hands on the rest. It's a series I can read again and again and share with my own friend with benefits.
