More About the Author

Debi's education as a chef began as a child, always in the kitchen with her family wanting to help and learn. In high school Debi and her best friend would throw their version of a dinner party for friends, trying out the recipes they had been practicing.

Debi received her BS degree from Arizona State University and began working in the corporate world. Realizing that her passion was in the food industry, she attended the California Culinary Academy, completing a series of classes on wedding cakes. This led to the opening of her own wedding cake business, Silver Spoon Desserts, which was very successful in the San Francisco Bay area.

Upon entering motherhood Debi took time off to be at home with her daughters, during which time her family moved to Richmond, Virginia. In 2003 with Debi's desire to keep a creative hand in the business world, while still being able to be at home with her daughters, led her to the creation of Signature Menus, a cooking class business.

In addition to teaching cooking classes at home, Debi has also taught classes in several local community settings, such as the Richmond Symphony Designer House, where she taught students how to throw a Tapas party.

Debi's self-published cookbook Signature Salads, released in December 2005. The first two printings sold out within a year and a half. Sales of the third printing are well under way. Signature Salads is now sold in shops in Virginia, South Carolina, New York, and Pennsylvania.

The success and fun Debi had with Signature Salads inspired her to write a second book, a supper club cookbook titled Friends at the Table. Publication is now in progress, with a release date of April 2011. Friends at the Table offers the reader a complete description of what a supper club is, how to get one started, and includes twenty delicious seasonal menus, all with step-by-step planning guides and shopping lists. Please join Debi in bringing more people together, forming important relationship bonds, around superb food in settings with charming ambiance.

This has become one of my main "go to" cookbooks. The recipes use fresh seasonal ingredients and have had rave reviews from family and friends. I entertain quite a bit and can always put together a wonderful menu from this book that is creative yet not too complicated!
