This is a really fun idea - package six horror movies into a box that looks like a six-pack for beer, complete with a "died on" date and a creed about "serving premium horror since 1989". Anchor Bay has always released some great cult horror hits with plenty of extras, and here you get six for the price of three. In this set the theme is "the devil", and he's certainly mentioned a lot in all of these films. From antichrists to fraternity initiations, the devil appears everywhere including a gym class. The bulk of these films are foreign, so a lot of dubbing going on, and not tons of recognizable stars in most of them (save for Linda Blair in HELL NIGHT). None of them are horror classics by definition, though quite a few of them are solid and of interest. TO THE DEVIL... A DAUGHTER was a swan song for Hammer Studios, THE ANTICHRIST is a pretty neat EXORCIST rip-off with some trippy scenes seen here for the first time uncut, FEAR NO EVIL brings armageddon to high school, CURSE OF THE DEVIL is interesting evil against evil, HELL NIGHT is typical slasher fare, and THE CHURCH was originally called DEMONS 3 and has a script by horror master Argento (SUSPIRIA). All in all, it's a fun collection in a witty box at a nice price. 6 movies, 6 discs loaded with extras, and 6 reasons to give the devil his due. Please drink responsibly.
