I've had it four days now, replaced a 5 cu ft chest freezer with this so called energy star upright. It got cold from room temp (64 degrees) to -5 in less than an hour. Thought that was awesome. Then I transferred my already frozen food from the chest freezer which maintained around minus five degrees to this new one. I guess there is about four cubic ft of food in this new one. Door is sealed. By the way, the first couple days it made a whistle every time I shut the door. Very high pitch, like blowing a blade of grass between your thumbs. This last for about two seconds. Now it seems to have stopped.
The run time and noise are unacceptable! First, it sounds like a turboprop engine during high-power runup! Way louder than my old fridge about three feet away.
And second, it runs a lot!! I have a remote temp sensor in it, and it kicks on about +5 degrees, then runs until it gets to about -4/5 degrees. This is around a 45 on, 45 off duty cycle! And it never does any better! That shows it loosing around ten degrees every 45 minutes! Ten degrees in 45 minutes?! Then forty five minutes to cool it back down?!! How can this be hi efficiency or energy star proficient? That means it will be running twelve hours out of every twenty four hour period! If the stupid thing held its temp better it wouldn't kick on so much! And I can't find any leakers, and the sides and door aren't more than a little cool. So where is ten degrees in 45 minutes going? And why is it so blasted loud!!?
No what? I bought this from a local dealer on payments. I can't exactly give it back without screwing my dealer, and I like my dealer, it's a furniture store I've been using for fifteen years. And it isn't their fault, they didn't design this junk. What a big bummer.Read more ›
And will never buy another Frigidaire product, first off I have had it for about 1 1/2 years the electronic control apparently went out, naturally after the warranty is up new one is $70+ then hope it is the only problem., As in the other review it is noisy, not really that efficient and pretty cheaply made.... I ordered the part and will hope that does the trick ... Also lost 500 or so worth of frozen stuff had to run and buy a replacement to try to save what I could,,,,never again for sure..goes for the manufacturer (Electrolux) they also make Kenmore had I known that never would have bought in the first place...
