I Expected Better From Frigidaire,
By MariaA37 (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Frigidaire FAC104P1A Compact II 10,000-BTU Room Air Conditioner with Electronic Controls (Kitchen)
I read two reviews for this air conditioner that complained about noise. I purchased the next, newer model, the FAC105P1A, and was hoping the noise problem was fixed, but it wasn't. Not only was it loud in the room where I installed it, but it was also loud in the room next to it and on the floor above. Needless to say I returned it. It wasn't just the noise of the cool air being blown--it had a whining, humming noise that drove us crazy. Stay away from Frigedaire.

No Sleeping here,
By L. Di Masi (Queens, NY) - See all my reviews

Don't I repeat don't get this air conditioner. I know people think hey its an AC its suppose to be loud, but no. This item is beyond loud. The second we turned it on I was like are you kidding me. Don't expect to get much sleep. We have to blast our TV just to hear it. Also it rattles every now and again. I checked the frame and everything seems fine. Since we already opened the box we weren't able to return it to our local PC Richards. I always put this AC on 74 degrees energy mode because I cannot bear to hear it the whole night. It drives me nuts every day I pray that my BF gets a new one but he wouldn't since it was a hassle to get in the window in the first place. I suggest you do your home work on ACs before buying as of now Frigidaire acs seem to be the loudest. OH how I wish I would have gotten a GE.

I love this AC. I had the 8000 BTU unit and wanted to upgrade to the 10,000 BTU unit so the AC wouldn't have to work as hard. It cools my small 4-room apartment just fine. The controls are easy to understand, the "energy saving" feature turns the fan and condenser off when the proper temperature is reached and keeps it off until the temperature changes. It isn't as noisy as the other reviews seem to say, and delivery is amazing. I ordered it at 2pm on Monday and Tuesday morning the UPS man said my AC was here. I told him it wasn't possible, but he assured me that the 71-pound box was for me. I got it in LESS THAN 24 hours. AMAZING. Buy this and you'll have a cool summer, I will.

I returned 3 of these,
This review is from: Frigidaire FAC104P1A Compact II 10,000-BTU Room Air Conditioner with Electronic Controls (Kitchen)
I bought this air conditioner just before the summer and ran it for less than a year. We had a few warm days in the winter, so I turned it on early in the season. That is when I discovered that the bearings in the fan were starting to fail with a noticable squeal. I called Frigidaire customer service (someone from Electrolux answered), and they sent someone to inspect it. Instead of repairing it they recommended that I replace it and gave me an authorization number. I replaced it, and it failed again in the same way. I replaced the replacement and that too failed. Each of the three units began to make the same high pitched noise after about 10 months. The noise was distracting. After getting a credit for the last replacement I went out and bought a different brand. Electrolux (AKA Frigidaire) customer service is outstanding, but their product did not meet that standard. I recommend that you try out your air conditioner before the year's warranty expires. I did, and I was able to avoid an unpleasant surprise.

Sorry I didn't believe the earlier reviews that mentioned it was noisy.
Seriously. If this A/C is for your bedroom, even people with a high tolerance for noise will find this distracting with the occasional odd clanking noise added to the hum of the fan. Other than that, it has great features and can it can all be done using its remote.

It works and you can't miss hearing it! It's so very loud....,
This review is from: Frigidaire FAC104P1A Compact II 10,000-BTU Room Air Conditioner with Electronic Controls (Kitchen)
I was warned about the noise of this machine by some reviews but thought, how bad can it be? Well, this AC machine is VERY loud. How is it possible the outside air, fan-only mode is as loud as when the AC is working? You will want to get a window fan insert when not needing AC and the noise will be cut in half.
The "low" setting is a joke given the loud noise it makes. It does make you feel low. And "medium" and "high" fan settings basically will leave a ringing in your ears. Yes, the thing does cool down the space quite well and quickly, but we've had to move it from the kitchen in order to hear the TV in the living room. Now it's in the second bedroom and it's still very loud and I don't mind white noise while sleeping. This is blaring noise. If you aren't sure you can handle a very loud air conditioner, than don't make the mistake I was warned about. This thing is every bit as loud as the other reviewers complain about. Shame on Frigidaire for such a poorly designed machine. Look for another manufacturer.

Accaptable but not great,
This review is from: Frigidaire FAC104P1A Compact II 10,000-BTU Room Air Conditioner with Electronic Controls (Kitchen)
It came with a large dent in a side panel which collapsed the louveres. There were also dented blades in the condenser back.
Although it is reasonably quite in the installed room every other place in my house resonates with a loud hum. Otherwise it workes fine for the way I use it.

The packaging was inadequate for protecting the product during shipping:
1) the front cover was broken in three places, 2) the condenser cooling coil was mashed in several large areas, 3) the air-direction louvers were a joke... Other than these items, it did perform fairly well, after some repair and modifications. |
