5.0 out of 5 stars Don't drill holes
Right on the cover of the installation manual, item #1(!) includes text and an illustration informing the owner that this unit MUST be installed with a rearward slope. Following this simple instruction will prevent any water issues. Please don't damage your A/C by drilling holes in it. I've owned a very similar model for about five years, but am happy to report that this...

1.0 out of 5 stars 220V
They need to mention in the product description that it is 220 volts and will not work in a standard three prong 110 volt outlet.

Following this simple instruction will prevent any water issues. Please don't damage your A/C by drilling holes in it. I've owned a very similar model for about five years, but am happy to report that this current model (which I've installed in another room) is even better: nice controls, strong fan and cooling capability, and quiet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cooled a large room nicely - highly recommend, January 27, 2010

I bought this A/C for a very large room last summer. I wanted something that would really keep things cool and dehumidified. I considered getting a 12,000 BTU but now that I have this 10,000 BTU unit I am more than satisfied! It really does the trick and I haven't had any problems with it. The settings are really convenient as well. As far as water issues go, all A/Cs generate some water from the process of condensing air. As a previous reviewer mentioned, if it's installed on a slight downhill slope (as is standard with A/Cs), it's no problem at all. I might add that I've moved a few times and owned/tried 4 other A/Cs in the past 12 months and this one by far has given me the best results. Hope this helps.

2.0 out of 5 stars no drain for rain water, July 4, 2009

Unit was installed late last fall. During a heavy rain this spring, we had rainwater rolling into the family room via the wall insert. We first blamed the new wall insert, but on closer examination found the A/C itself collects rain water; the bottom of the A/C has no drains at all. Once the water is high enough in the A/C unit, it has nowhere to go but into the house.

I drilled a couple of holes in the bottom of the unit...that should take care of things.

It was a great deal since the shipping was free. The ac installed easily in an existing sleeve that was through the wall. Much more efficient than the old ac, cools well etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars wrong product but it worked out, May 2, 2009

I believe I ordered a 120 volt model of the same unit. Perhaps I was not careful enough because the difference was one character in the model number but what I received was the 220 volt version which meant I had to have a new 220 line installed or return the shipment -- which was impractical (teh unit weighs nearly 100 pounds.
