I bought this and an equivalent sized/priced Kenmore model (0.9 cu) at the same time to run side by side. I might add that both brands have virtually the same features in both the 0.9 vs the 1.1 models, so comparing 1.1 to 0.9 is simply a matter of size difference. I wanted a microwave in my pantry. So I have space constraints. Kenmore's next size up, 1.2, is WAY too big. Frigidaire offers the most compact footprint of amost all the brands. You can get far more wattage in a smaller base. But I still wanted quality. GE is far too big, I love GE but it hogs counter/shelf space. Magic Chef is a deceptively re-branded plastic EZ Bake Oven -and just as cheaply made- so I returned it immediately. Oster was not much better and just as tin-canny. Couldn't find Danby in any store and I don't want to order a virtually unheard of brand sight unseen, but it seemed like a worthy opponent based on universal reviews. So the only real two contenders in the same price/size range was Kenmore and Frigidaire. Here are my findings:

-Both will fit on a shelf which is at least 13.5" deep. The front edge of the feet come out to 13" so if you have 0.5" to spare on the shelf, you'll be ok. Both are under 12" which is often standard shelf spacing. Frigidaire lists height as 12" but it's slightly under that. Kenmore is around 11.5"
-Footprint: Frigidaire takes up less space
-Auto Cook Options - Frigidaire has far more autocook options (instructions provided on inside of door), but both have the fairly standard single-touch buttons such as popcorn, beverage yada yada
-Timed cooking (where you want to key in explicit time such as 1:42 for 1 min 42 sec. This one is interesting and likely comes down to user preference. Both offer the feature but in different ways.

I bought this microwave from a seller here on Amazon on June 14,2011 and I am now having to replace it because the inside corners of the microwave have started to peel and that can become a fire hazard.Other than that it was awesome while it lasted.

This one was bought to replace one that began to lose responsiveness in several of the command keys on the touch pad. The first one lasted 4 years and is inexpensive enough just to replace instead of get repaired. I've been please with it and think the control board gave up the ghost. That is why I bought another just like the first one. I use it all the time, everyday, so I got my money's worth out of the first one.

Lasted less than six months. I purchased this microwave from a national retailer in my area and as of today it is no longer working. Seemed like a nice oven from what I thought was a reputable manufactor. I will amend this review depending the outcome of their response.

Don't buy. There are better 100 dollar range microwaves. Dislikes:

1. White on black buttons hard to read
2. Interior light comes on ONLY when machine is running.
3. Microwave clock does NOT display when cooking is over. (You have to manually hit "Stop" to return to clock display.)
4. Microwave cuts itself off if cooking too long on high. (Yeah it will reset itself after 10 minutes, but it should be able to go 30 minutes on high setting, don't you think?)

My comparably priced GE microwave lasted 6 years and had a better appearance, cleaner button display and it never shut itself off in mid-cooking.)

I bought extended warranty, so I can probably get Lowe's to replace it. But then I'd only be replacing a machine I already don't like. I'll probably eat the 100 bucks and buy another GE.

Thanks

Bought this microwave at a Lowe's store, and it worked great...FOR A WEEK. It heated food evenly and quickly, but it soon stopped heating and would just run. I reheated a plate of food for 8 minutes (1-2 minute increments), and the food was the same temperature as when I put it in straight from the fridge.
