1. There are no splash pans, and there are none which will fit it, anywhere. I have searched energetically. I've had this stove since April of this year, and it requires diligent cleaning almost every time it is used; and even so, there are little dots of spatter which just won't come off, and are now apparently a permanent part of the white porcelain exterior. (Note, I eat mostly low-fat vegetarian foods, and fry with only a bit of fat painted on the pan -- it's not from great bubbling pans of oily food.)

2. The burners are covered by a three very heavy pieces of removable grillwork to set your pans on; left, center, and right.

3. There is one burner in the middle of the stove top, and then one at each corner, of different sizes. The placement of the burners under the grillwork is ill-conceived. One "simmer burner,: very small, is rear right. That's good.
But one huge "quick boil" burner is front right; another "quick boil" burner is placed left rear, and the great open spot in the center, which would accommodate a larger pan or soup kettle, has a smaller burner under it, closer to the size of the "simmer burner," and the grillwork over it is larger spaced so that, for instance, my little one-serving cereal saucepan will not balance on it. This would have been the place to put the large, "quick boil" burner. Both simmer burners should have been placed at the rear. It's not easy to believe they ever asked an experienced cook to use this design for a month before they marketed it.

I like the fact that the burners can be turned down VERY LOW and still stay lit; I used heat diffusers to keep things warm on my old stove, but they are almost unnecessary on this stove.

I've had this over a year now and LOVE IT. The middle burner is sooooo handy. The convection fan is awesome. No complaints at all. We bought it for gas, had it switched over for LP (don't believe them when they say the conversion parts are included) then switched it back when we had natural gas installed.

How this made the Consumer Reports reccomendation is kind of weird. I have had very good luck buying appliances and goods based on their reviews. I bought the gallery series stove in stainless six months ago. I bought them for a house I bought to remodel. The Gallery series looked good but I would never buy the series again. The diswasher had such terrible reviews I went a head and returned it for a Whirlpool that had high reviews and we are happy with it. The Stove and refrigerator are both nearly worthless and I would NEVER buy them again.

The stove has little plastic tabs on the bottom of the grates that melt and also fall off way to easily. The space between the interior glass and exterior glass has vents that allow dust to enter and you can't clean it. When the sun shines in during the morning all you see is a glass door that looks very dusty but you cannot get in there to clean it. TERRIBLE design! The "convection" fan sometimes never comes on when it is supposed to and other times it comes on after a few minutes after it comes to temp and other times it comes on right away once to temp. Which is it supposed to be Frigidaire? The top is very hard to clean compared to a ceramic flat top but I do like the burners.

The refrigerator is another joke. Food keeps freezing on the bottom shelf and on the top shelf in the back left corners. I kept adjusting the temp up but the other items like milk and soda were getting to warm. I used my Thermopen(Purple one works best..Inside joke for Competition BBQ teams) and the milk on the front center shelf was 41.2 F while the chicken breast on the bottom shelf was 26.4 in the back and 39.1 on the front breasts. Terrible air flow! Next problem is the ice maker/water dispenser.
