**UPDATE PT 2** New fridge arrived. Works great. The noise I complained about is gone--this fridge is as quiet as I would expect any fridge to be. Something was wrong with the first one. So ignore my complaints about noise! If this holds up for the long haul, it's a 5-star fridge for me.**END UPDATE PT 2**
**UPDATE** Noise: A couple of times a day, for about 20-30 minutes, there is a fan or motor of some kind that comes one and is fairly loud and high-pitched. The rest of the time, when the compressor comes on, it is very quiet. I'm guessing it might have to do with a defrost cycle, but I really don't know. We can live with it because it's really not that loud (no more than our old fridge) and it's not very frequent. We have put felt carpet padding under and behind the fridge to help reduce the sound.
Reliability: Well, this refrigerator arrived with two problems: a broken leveler/roller, and a stuck damper that causes the fridge to stay at a temp of around 25 even though it is set for 47 (yes, everything is freezing!). The roller I really think is on the big S where I purchased this; the damper issue is one that a tech told me could be fixed. However, when a tech came out from Sears/A&E, they declared the fridge irreperable. Then they told me they would send a replacement. Then they refused. I had a horrible experience with Sears, but an excellent experience with Frigidaire. I contacted Frigidaire/Electrolux, went through their replacement review process, and was just told that we are getting a new refrigerator, all expenses paid.

I purchased this fridge from Lowe's for $1200. All in all I'd say that this is a decent fridge, and it does look great. There are a few things that I wish were different, but I have to temper those drawbacks with the fact that there are very few counter depth refrigerators available in this price range. Here are the main things I think you should be aware of:

* Only the two front wheels are adjustable. Since our kitchen has settled a bit (older home) this made it very difficult to level the fridge in such a way that it matched the cabinet lines around it. My contractor ended up using a wooden shim under the back right wheel to make the fridge look level and to stop rocking. I feel like Frigidaire really cut a corner by not making the back wheels adjustable too.

* A bit loud at times. As others have stated, it does have slightly louder cycles. If you live in a studio apartment or something this could be a problem, but in a typical house with the sleeping area separate from the kitchen it's not a big issue.

* Filter Bypass. I have a reverse osmosis system for the drinking water supply and the additional built in filter of the fridge is making the water flow PAINFULLY slow. It takes a good 2-3 minutes to fill up a water bottle. I've just called Fridigaire and placed an order for their "Filer Bypass" at $43. From what they tell me, that should solve the flow issue.

Finally, a comment on water and ice dispensers that applies to this and to most other fridge's. I really don't like the paddle dispenser concept at all. It's almost impossible to find an alternative design though! Every time you place a glass under the dispenser for filling, the surface area near the rim of the glass comes into contact with the paddle. This strikes as highly unsanitary.

Bought from an outlet store so it had a small dent on side and got it or $1098! Ran a little loud for the first 24 hours till I hooked up the water and it reached temperature. Besides that it is virtually quite compared to a traditional fridge. Smudge free stainless is nice with two little kids. Counter depth is nice with a small country home.

I've owned this refrigerator for almost 4 years now and love it. I've read reviews about it being loud but it's never bothered me enough to even notice. Also, I have a two year who likes to leave the doors open and it never looses its temperature. Our food has stayed frozen with the door left open for quite a while.

I purchased this fridge from Sears for $1,100 which was almost a thousand cheaper than the next counter depth model. The fridge quickly stopped working a week later and I lost over a hundred bucks in groceries. Sears replaced the defective fridge a week later with the same model. The second fridge is the loudest fridge that I have ever heard/owned. It is only loud when it is making ice or the compressor turns on, but it is still annoying. Do not buy this fridge unless you are def.

This fridge looks great in our kitchen, it was an awesome price for counter depth. We have not noticed any loud noises from the fridge. However, one of the crisper drawers is too cold in the back half of the drawer and freezes things back there. Haven't figured out how to fix that yet. My worst complaint however is the ice maker, which doesn't produce nearly enough ice for my ice loving family (we fill glasses all the way to the top with ice.). It's always running out. I have to stock five extra trays of ice to keep my family happy. So why have an ice maker? Why can't it make ice at a faster rate? Otherwise, this fridge is perfect. Would I recommend it? Only if you don't use lots of ice. Would I buy this again, I would have to say no, because of the ice issue. If the ice maker made more ice, I would.
