Steer clear of this brand - seriously! We purchased this microwave in 2005. It looked nice, and has functioned just fine. However, shortly after the warranty ran out, the glass window in the door detached. On further inspection, one of the cheap, plastic clips that held the glass panel in place had broken off. The fix that was offered to us was to buy a replacement door for about $80. This we did.

Once again, everything was fine for awhile, then the same issue happened with the replacement door. This time my husband tried gluing the window in place. It looked awful, but held for awhile. Eventually, we replaced the door again. Please note that the warranty period on the replacement parts is only 90 days. I can see why they have such a short warranty period. They know their doors aren't going to last much longer than that.

We are now looking at having to replace the door a third time. Of course, doing so would be ridiculous at this point. If we buy a 3rd door, we'll have spent as much on replacement parts as we did on the original microwave. However it seems such a shame to throw out an expensive appliance that is still cooking well for an issue like this.

We tried contacting Figidaire's customer service, and their response was less than helpful. I quote:

"Thanks for contacting Frigidaire.

We sincerely regret that you have experienced difficulties with your product. Frigidaire provides very comprehensive warranties with each product to guard against parts that may be defective at the time of manufacture. However, we are sure you can appreciate that a point is eventually reached when the manufacture's responsibility for repairs under the warranty must end.
Our research has shown that an original defect in material or workmanship develop very early in the life of an appliance. After a reasonable period of time, many factors beyond the control of the manufacture may affect any product.
We offer Extended Service Contracts to all our customers who register their appliances with us, to guard against unusual problems that may occur outside of warranty beyond normal wear and tear. Unfortunately, it would not be fair for customers who pay for this added insurance for us to cover the same repairs for customers who did not elect to insure their purchases outside of warranty. We apologize for not being able to assist.

Thank you for contacting Frigidaire."

Basically, if you do not purchase their extended warranty, they see no reason to stand behind their product, even when it is clearly defective. I can guarantee that they will not be getting my business any more.

Like the title states, we loved the microwave for the first year. Great looks, and good funtionality.

Now, 40 days outside of the 1 year warranty the door latch has broke. I cannot believe that they use a plastic tab to connect the spring latch to the door.

I could not reccommend this product to anyone that wants it to last longer than a year, which would be everyone.

I have the option of paying $190 for a new door that will last only a year, or buying a new unit. I'll try a new brand, and I advise you to do the same.

The incessant beeping is enough to make you want to put your own head inside the microwave. Next to that, when you select a defrost time, it literally stops every 30 seconds to tell you to turn it over. and wont start ubnless you open and close the door then push start again I HATE THIS THING. Good thing it LOOKS NICE because the features, the beeping, and the UI is absolutely UNNERVING. I am writing this as some steaks are defrosting in it and the constant stops and beeping has just finally gotten me to the point where I had to come here and whine about it.

Just when I thought my experience with Frigidaire could not get any worse, it in fact did. Having the WARRANTY is worse than not having one. The Microwave is not working from just around Christmas. Early January, it should have been fixed. The Service company called and told me that the parts are not available, so the next possible touch point is Feb 18th.

So, looking at guaranteed no microwave for about 2 months, and even after that there is uncertainty when it would be fixed.

Had I NOT had the Warranty, I would have just taken a loss and gone ahead an purchased another Microwave of a brand called "NOT FRIGIDAIRE".

- This Microwave lasted less than 6 months
- Of course you think all should be fine because it is under warranty.
- Yes, it is under warranty, BUT:
a) you are given the direct contact of a Service Provider, and you are no longer working with Frigidaire directly.
b) So, the buck is passed from Frigidaire over to a third party Appliance Service company
c) The appliance service company guy came, took a look at the Microwave and said they will need to order parts either from their local supplier, or directly from distributor. This could take up to 10 days

So, now you are left hanging without a Microwave for 10 days or more. With the time off needed to be away from Office to handle the multiple appliance service company appointments, the Warranty is just not worth it.

Also, called Frigidaire customer service. The Customer Service person was TERRIBLE, and basically told me to deal with it and stop complaining.

NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY A FRIGIDAIRE PRODUCT.

We bought this microwave elsewhere and loved it at first. There are several great functions on it and it is easy to use. However, it quickly developed a short in the cord which resulted in smoke shooting out of the outlet and a prong from the plug melting into the outlet.
