A friend of mine has one of these. The door has begun to fall apart. The handle came off. All with light use and gentle care.

We had this just over 1 year and the bottom of the handle broke. The door is starting to crack around the base as well. Junk. To top it off the warranty expired two weeks ago, so basically this will last you a year and no more.

RE: FMV157GB microwave. I thought it was just mine that might have a broken door handle, but it's not. I was amazed that all of the reviews for this microwave were the same...broken door handles! In my opinion everyone who has this microwave should have the handle replaced free of charge. It's a manufacturer's defect; we shouldn't be tied to a warranty.

This model Frigidaire microwave was in our home when we bought it. Within 1.5 years (of us moving in), the lower portion of the door, at the handle, cracked. All with typical regular usage. After examining the door and handle, it's clearly a poor design. The actual HANDLE does not bolt to the metal portion of the door - it's only part of the plastic fascia that covers the metal door and glass window. As such, the handle isn't properly supported to deal with the constant pulling and pushing. If the handle was actually bolted to the metal door, it wouldn't break.

Frigidaire - go back to the drawing board and learn how to engineer a door and handle properly.

We had the same experience with the door as the other reviewers. Within a month after the warranty expired, the door handle broke, then pieces started to fall off, and now the whole door has fallen apart. The protective glass has fallen out of the frame, who knows how long it was loose and not protecting us as we used it. This company does not stand behind the junk they sell. I have never owned such a poorly constructed appliance - ever. Wish I had "do-overs" on this purchase! I will never buy another Frigidaire appliance after this experience.

Mine was pre-installed in my townhouse when I purchased it. Like the other two reviewers noted, the door handle began to disintegrate, followed this morning by the whole door assembly. The top end of the handle isn't connected at all and there's cracks in three areas of the door...one even at the other end by the hinge. Pieces of plastic are falling off like shattered glass. REALLY poorly made door.

I researched a replacement door assembly and found it to be nearly $200, so I will just replace the Frigidare with something better (specifically, the Panasonic NN-SD277BR. Might as well go all out!)

Aside from the door, the microwave functioned fine for three years. Pretty basic model, but it did the job.
