My sister lives down south and the AC unit in her living room finally checked out. I was planning on getting her a really cool Christmas present, but, instead, decided to stick to being the practical guy that I am. That's right, I sent her this window unit as an early xmas present. When she recently called me, I was expecting to hear moaning and groaning about what a boring gift I sent. Turns out, the AC was a great gift. My sister said she can now actually hear the TV when the AC is running because it's so quiet and the motor turns itself on and off to keep the room at a constant temperature. She even said it was easy to install, which was one of my biggest concerns. Overall, I'd say best bang for your buck!

My parents own a home in Florida and they recently turned the walk-in attic into a fourth bedroom/guest quarters. Seemed like a fabulous idea until you are the one sleeping up there, in the HEAT! Since I have been spending so much time in the new bedroom, I knew I had to do something........ buy a window AC!!! I didn't want to spend a lot of money since it's not my permanent residence, so this AC was perfect. I wasn't expecting any miracles since it's a small unit attempting to cool a large open space, but I was more than pleasantly surprised. The converted bedroom turns comfortably cool shortly after turning on the AC and it's sooooo quiet. So long sleepless nights!

This unit replaced a recently-non-functioning 15-year-old GE mechanical thermostat 5000 btu window a/c. (We have to lock up our barn cats in the 8x12x10h tack room at night to protect them from the local nocturnal predators (foxes, bobcat, coyote)). This new unit is smaller and a bit more-efficient than the one it replaced, which was a primary concern because of the very limited wattage available in the barn. It's great you can adjust both the auto cool fan speed and auto cool (on/off cycle) settings. So far, in the first week, it's working great. The most difficult thing about the installation was teaching the cats how to use a remote control.

I have purchased quite a few window air conditioners, but the FRA054XT7 turned out to be exactly what I have been looking for. Even though it's a small unit, it still does a great job of cooling the room. It has easy-to-use electronic controls, a remote, and it's very quiet. Not to mention that it was really easy to install! I'd have to say that this is the best unit I've had yet and for a great price.

I am very satisfied with this a/c. It is light, cools well, easy to install, and quiet. I would recommend it to anyone in need of an a/c for a small room. One thing, though, the filter comes out on the right side, so your installation must be on the left of the window to accommodate this.

Very quiet. I can easily sleep with this in a window about 4 feet from the bed. Cools a room with 9' ceilings and a skylight very quickly.

The single star is for Frigidaire, not the unit. I've not been able to evaluate the unit, yet.

I ordered one of these from Amazon. I arrived OK. The box was beat up and damaged, but the unit looked OK. I got it in the window and turned it on. It ran for the minute or so necessary for the broken fan to destruct. A blade on the fan was apparently broken during manufacture.

I took it to the local Frigidaire warranty repair shop. They told me Frigidaire refused to authorize repair and wanted it sent back to the vendor. I thought about the hassle of doing this, especially given the damage to the shipping box, and asked them how much it would cost to just replace the fan. It was then that they discovered that Frigidaire does not stock parts for these units. They are intended to be "throw-away" if something in them breaks.

I'll also note that the internal ducting is made out of Styrofoam.

The repair shop did eventually argue Frigidaire into sending a replacement unit to them. I'm waiting for it now. I just want to let folks know what sort of unit they are considering and what Frigidaire now considers "customer support".

Frigidaire used to be a good brand representing good products and good support. Those days seem to be gone.

Pity, that.

Setup took about 10 mins and was relatively painless. The unit is quite small, but powerful enough to keep my medium sized, high ceiling bedroom cool.
Wish it were a little quieter, but the steady white noise is makes is not too disturbing and I can sleep with it running. The digital thermostat is excellent, much better than cheap hotter/colder dials that have no temp reference.
Overall a recommended buy for single room cooling, particularly if you have a smaller window.

I needed a small A/C unit for my office, which is about 9' x 12'. This little Frigidaire fit the bill perfectly. The install kit that comes with it makes installation a snap, and the power draw is very light so it won't cost much to run.

The think I like most is that it is QUIET. On low fan (which is usually where it is, since the room is so small) it's not much louder than my file server.

The 11-button remote is great, I can control every function (temp, fan speed, self-timer, etc.) from my desk. Literally every feature of this A/C unit can be accessed from the remote.

Since I'm an Amazon Prime member, 2-day delivery was FREE - and it really did ship UPS 2nd Day Air from Pennsylvania to my house in Arkansas. Shipping weight 54lb, the Prime membership pretty well paid for itself with this one purchase.

Our bedroom has an older window unit that is WAY louder than this, but the window is two very narrow double-hung panes side by side and it's difficult to find anything with adequate BTU's for the large bedroom that will fit in that narrow window opening. I'm thinking about buying two of these (10,000 BTU total) and installing them side-by-side in the bedroom. I have no doubt that two of these would cool better, and draw less power than the one older unit I have now.

I was very pleased with this unit the first three years. It was small and comparatively quiet, yet it cooled a moderately large bedroom. After three years, however, it started making odd noises and the people downstairs complained. Now it doesn't turn off, so I have to pull the plug when it gets too cool. There are very few units this small and the price is the lowest of all units available, so I guess I will replace it with another one. Just dont expect it to last long. I would have given it five stars, since it cooled so well, but it didn't work for long.
