I bought this a/c unit to replace an older LG LW8012ER that was extremely loud and falling apart. The reviews of last year's Frigidaire model (CV1) were good, so I decided to pick up the newest version.

The unit came pre-assembled (top bracket), all I had to do was slide on the side curtains. Installation a breeze, same as any other window unit.

The unit feels like it's good quality, and best of all it's QUIET! Great for a small NYC studio, and doesn't keep me up at night.

I really love the remote, you have access to every function except for "Clean Air" (no big deal), and the temperature sensing feature is very nice.

My only complaint would be that there was some black greasy stuff in the front filter/grill area that I had to clean out with a Q-Tip, which took some time. Not worth deducting a star over.

I'll try to update the review in the future, but for now, highly recommend!

As I write this review, I believe that Frigidaire is the only air conditioner brand to offer an ionizer in some of their models, including this 10,000-BTU beauty.

I have always preferred air purifiers with built-in ionizers, and this air conditioner works the same way, removing pollen and other impurities from the air. The air coming out smells fresh, even when the compressor has cycled off.

But the ionizer isn't the only nifty feature of this Frigidaire. With an 11.3 EER, the machine is exceptionally efficient. My beloved old Panasonic a/c would make a 15-amp extension cord I use to connect the unit to a dedicated circuit warm to the touch. This Fridgie is so efficient, it doesn't warm the extension cord at all.

I also like the selectable temperature sensor in the remote. This enables the a/c to hold the room temperature to the exact setting where you actually sit or sleep, up to twenty feet away from the machine.

Other features include timer on/off, auto fan speed, fan only, air vent and exchanger, check filter reminder light, plus a sleep feature that gradually increases room temperature by a few degrees while you snooze to save money. I tried this once and didn't like it -- I like to sleep at 71 degrees, not 75.

It is interesting to note that this air conditioner doesn't dribble water outside, as my previous units have. Instead, the fan catches the condensate and throws it against the hot condenser grill at the back of the machine outside the house, which I assume also helps cool the grill and perhaps contributes to the unit's efficiency.

It is possible that the audible splats of the water hitting the grill could bother nearby light-sleeping neighbors with open windows.

I am an HVAC professional. Many people complain that units do not cool very well, and typically the problem is that they failed to calculate the size of their room, amount of insulation, or heat load. If this is the size unit you need, keep reading!

This unit works well. That is, the air blowing from the vent is very cold. The remote temperature sensor is an excellent idea, as in most houses the air very close to the unit will get cold long before the air at the far side of the room, causing the unit to turn off when the rest of the room is still warm. This unit resolves that issue--just set the desired temperature on the remote control, set the remote down, and point it toward the air conditioner and it will maintain the temperature. The three fan speeds are more than sufficient to let the user choose between a quieter unit (quiet being very relative, read on!) and having the cold air thrown further across the room. The fresh air intake or exhaust switch is a nice option, though it is a very small amount of air--I'd estimate about 2-4% of the air being moved by the unit. This is useful for preventing a well-insulated room from getting stale air, but it won't let you cool your room with outside air if it is cool outside and hot inside--you will still need to either run the air conditioning compressor or open a different window in the room.

However, the unit is made of inferior materials. For instance, the part of the unit that separates the condenser (outside section of the unit) from the evaporator (the inside section of the unit) is made of very thin 3/8" styrofoam. The styrofoam sweats on the outside, indicating that you are losing some of the cold air you are paying for.

I LOVE this A/C. It is exactly what I was looking for. It is only my second day with it but my room is Ice Cold, I needed socks.
Granted I put this big a/c in a room that is only 250 sq. ft, but I did it for this exact reason. So I can run it on econ low, instead of
Hi 24/7 like with my old one. My old one was old, about 10yrs old and 8000 btu's but when it gets hot and humid here, I always had to run it on high. It is not too hot here now, but it will be by the end of next week. I doubt I will have any problem with this a/c running on low or med in the 90+ degree heat and 90 percent humidity of NY.
This a/c is also the quietest one I have ever owned. It is better than the "Library Quiet" one we have in the other bedroom.
And I love the Clean Air setting and it also have 2 vent settings along with the 3 fan settings and 3 cool settings. And it lights up when you have to clean the filter.
Also, Amazon's amazing service was as usual, excellent. It got here in less than a week and in perfect condition.

I would recommend this one to anyone who asks.
