An great, budget system!,
This review is from: Frisby 5.1 Surround Sound Dolby Digital Speaker System (Personal Computers)
Like many folks, buying a 5.1 system so cheap from a brand name I have not heard before, I was expecting something sub-par in condition, sound quality, and overall value. To my surprise, most of my expectations were met.
PROS I have this plugged into my PC's 5.1 integrated sound card for music, gaming, and movies played from the PC. The 5.1 is great, and I can hear, for example, explosions, gun shots, foot steps, talking, etc... all around me when these are positioned correctly around where I am sitting while playing a game. When listening to music, specifically thrash and speed metal, the songs are clear and distinctive. Strumming of guitar strings, power chords, hi-hat and crash rides cymbals are clear. if you rip at lower bit rates, like 128 kbps, then you will hear the 'hiss' and 'fried chicken cooking' in the speakers, but thats to be expected with a low bit rate. Higher bit rates sound of course so much better, like 320 kbps. Windows lossless audio and your normal audio CD's are the best, and sound very clear with no distortion at 'normal' volumes. As each speaker's volume and sub volume can be controlled from the remote (mine came with batteries for the remote, a nice convenience), you can get the system pretty loud before you hear much distortion, but again, lower quality audio will sound much worse at lower volumes than excellent quality audio at higher volumes. On the front of the sub you can manually adjust the speaker and sub volumes too. You can switch between 2.1 and 5.1, at least on my PC, by pressing the DVD and CD buttons on the front of the sub. CONS The speakers are cheaply made. The speaker covers are very thin and taking them off doesn't make a huge difference really. Also, the pegs that connect to cover to the body of the speakers are cheap, and break easily. You can glue them back into place though no problem. The speaker box itself seems sturdy and strong, however. When the sub is turned all the way down leaving the speakers by themselves, the sound quality from the speakers alone is rather poor as the speakers are about 4" or so in size. The rear speaker wires are long, but not long enough for a normal setup. An extension is needed to get the rear speakers to get comfortably behind you and positioned right. Not a huge deal to me, but there is no out-of-the-box way to mount speakers on your walls without something extra to do so. Not sure about the 3000 watts claim or how anyone would ever get that much wattage from this, but it sounds to be between the 40-60 watt range on average, although i could be wrong. CONCLUSION A great buy if you need something that gets the job done. It satisfies, for the most part, what I need for where I live. It can get very loud and maintain its audio quality for listening enjoyment, and the sub sound perfect at high volumes, in fact too loud at times (a good thing). Heavy Metal music, movies, and PC gaming all sound great in 5.1. Only beware if you have smaller kids or pets, as the speakers are cheap and, as I found out, even small distance falls of a couple feet will break the pegs on the speaker covers. A good buy overall.

I really expected more for the money and the claim of 3000 watts. I bought a surround sound system several years ago at Walmart for half the price and still works fine, and the sound is way better. I wanted a newer better one for my new 36" Samsung tv. This thing is a piece of junk, I pulled the speaker cover off the base unit and its a tiny 4" speaker. There's not even a way to hang the satellite speakers. I know I can't get my money back on this thing, but I hope I can save someone else from buying this junk.
