5.0 out of 5 stars Great speaker
Great speaker set for the budget. Easy to set up, clear sound, and powerful bass and subwoofer. The remote has many control buttons and tuning individual speakers is simple. I connect my PC, TV, and PS to this speaker system and the surrounding effects are amazing. One minor thing is that the cable for rear speakers is a little bit short and I bought a RCA extension cable...

I purchased the Frisby surround sound because it was cheap and it advertised True surround sound. I mainly bought it for my xbox 360. When it arrived the first problem was the display cover had already fallen off. it was easily fixable. You will definatly have to buy extenstion cords for the speakers because they are extremely short as if they were made to be set up in a small bathroom. Everything is done by remote, it has individual speaker output levels, treble and bass control. Next problem is that if the remote dies or is broken you are SOL because that is the only way to switch between outputs and volumes on the speakers. Also either the sensor on the remote or the reciever is very weak because it is frequently unreceptive.
Next, I hooked the system up to my xbox 360 using the Optical out connection, when my xbox was on stereo it worked wonderfully the sound is great for such a cheap system. However when I switched the sound to be Dolby Digital the volume completely went to garbage and only the 2 speakers on the front worked and it sounded like an AM radio at that point. Im not sure if it was a defect or not but by that point I doubted it. So i decided to connect my sound via the AUX1 input. Now things were working. Dolby Digital was doing its job and everything sounded as it should. I tested it on a few games and the surround effect was working. The system sounds great on music too. It can be loud too, though i doubt its 3000w. Its a good sounding system when it works but, you get what you pay for i guess. Even then I'd opt for something else. Despite its great sound when it works there are too many flaws. I gave it 3 stars because for its price (Which i paid 150 all together) this system is ok any more expensive and i'd call it a rip off. I will pass on Frisby products next time around and stick to the names brands I know.

I picked this up as a second system and set it up with our bedroom TV, cable box, and DVD player. It sounds amazingly good for the price. However, the digital coaxial and optical inputs stopped working after two days. Fortunately for me, my DVD player has a built in decoder and 5.1 outputs, and this has a 5.1 input. And the stereo inputs can decode a surround matrix similar to Pro Logic, so in my case, I'm OK with it.

Received quickkly with no problems, I am pleased. The system was easy to figure out, the only problem was that I needed to get extenders, as the cords were quite short. It wasn't a huge deal though since the cords are so common that they were all over the house so I just had to get a male to male connector for them.

I purchased these speakers mainly cause they had an optical and coaxial connections since my blu-ray player had those connections on the back of the player. I unpacked them and got them all setup. Went to plug in the power only to find out there were some crackling/popping noises coming out of the center channel speaker.I am thinking to myself now that's not normal.. I went to play one of my blu-ray movies. Everything seemed to be working all right didn't hear any crackling/popping noises during the playback of my DVD movie, as far as the sound goes it was decent. I heard better. But for the price of these speakers the sound was average. About a hour into my movie (Avatar)all of a sudden the sound went mute. No sound no nothing. The power just went dead. No lights on the subwoofer no nothing. just the crackling/popping noise coming out of the center channel speaker. I checked my power connections went to turn the switch off and back on and still nothing. I accidentally bumped the subwoofer with my arm and guess what? The power to the subwoofer came back on. Now what does that tell you... I am thinking i got a bad unit. But sent them back for a refund. Didn't want to take any chance on maybe getting another defective unit. If anyone out there knows any 5.1 surround sound speakers with optical or coaxial connection for a budget price would appreciate any input. Just wanted to share my experience with this product.

I did not except these speakers to be so epic, PS3 in dolby digital 5.1 and dts 5.1, is amazing, alot like logitech z-5500, it is a cheap and good speaker system, i recommend u buy it!!!
Subwoofer is amazing, i shed a tear whenever i listen to three days grace on these, games are even more amazing, BUY IT!!! had it for a week...........
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That's my review from about a year or two ago, these speakers messed up after a week, Dolby Digital and DTS stopped working after a (Tryed a DVD player, PS3 AND Xbox 360) the only good thing is the subwoofer. The speakers that it comes with are HORRIBLE, like cheap $5 speakers, sound quality is TERRIBLE. this whole package should be worth about $50 total...Do NOT buy.

I had bought this item, hoping it would last. It didn't. quit working in very short order. Pay the extra for a namebrand system.

1.0 out of 5 stars Subwoofer Blew Out After A Month, February 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Frisby 5.1 True Surround Sound Speaker System With Optical Coaxial Connection for TV, IPOD, Game Consoles, CD, DVD player, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 (Dolby Digital) (Electronics)
I bought this system as an interim solution until I can buy a high end system. I didn't expect much from this system, but while it functioned I thought its performance was good for the price I paid. In fact, I was rather pleased with its sound.

But after less than a month of use, the woofer gave out. I wasn't even using the system at the time, I had it in standby mode with my TV turned off, and suddenly the subwoofer component began emitting a loud white noise.

I didn't abuse the system by operating it at full volume and I had the system plugged into a surge protector.

I realize for the price I paid that the system probably wouldn't last all that long, but I certainly expected it to last more than the short time it did.

I contacted the vendor I bought the system from via Amazon and they gave me the following info:

Please contact the manufacturer Comsis Computer . They offer a 1 year warranty on this system. The number is 4804974872.

The number is not toll free and I don't expect much help since the system as sent by the seller (Orliv) had no P.O. number or any other kind of proof of purchase. (I just noticed that Orliv is no longer selling this system, at least not via Amazon.)
