This collection was first introduced to me through my violin teacher, the late Adreinne Krasner (wife of Louis Krasner who debued the Berg Violin Concerto). Since that time I have returned again, and again to it with my own students. My favorite is the Preludium and Allegro but the Sicilienne and Rigadoun are very popular as well.

This book gathers many really nice pieces of various styles and times(tango,"slavonic dances",pieces "in the style of" Mozart, Beethoven, Pugnani, etc.), which is really pleasant when you like switching from a time and style to another.

These are relatively short pieces, but from time to time they can be quite technical... I would recommend them only for players having already spent a few years learning to play the violin(I would say at least 6-7-8 years, but of course this is a highly subjective estimate!).

Most of them are nice to be played even without the accompaniment (the scores for a piano part are provided but not the piano player...).

A really nice book, I've spent pleasant times playing the violin thanks to it... and I'm looking forward to having Vol.2!
