Religious psychology at its most helpful,
This review is from: Fritz Kunkel: Selected Writings (Paperback)
Fritz Kunkel is not very well know today but in my opinion he is as great as Carl Jung and actually more helpful to the reader. He had two srikes against him: the psychtherapy community mostly shunned him because his writings were too religious, while the religious community largely ignored him because he did not fit religious dogmas. But Kunkel had it right; he knew that psychology was empty without spirit and clinging to dogma killed the spirit. He had the advantage of deep knowlege of depth psychology as well as a living Christianity. He knew that our true self did not reside in our ego and he showed us how to become free. John Sanford, a noted Episcopal priest and Jungian analyst has done a great service in creating this book and making the best of Kunkel available. For the hungry soul who knows that religious platitudes don't bring us to wholess (this is where depth psychology can be so helpful) this book will be treasured.

This is a great book for anyone who has an interest in spiritual growth and psycology. I believe Kunkel's writing is indeed like finding lost treasure.
