This is a wonderful CD. The music is a blend of rock, bluegrass, and Irish jig sounds. The songs are peppy (we can dance to them all!) and we can understand all the words (makes singing along easier).

My 2 year old daughter really likes this cd and asks for the froggie song in the car a lot. We enjoy singing the lyrics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the whole family!, June 27, 2009
This review is from: A Frog Named Sam (Audio CD)
I absolutely love this CD and so does my 2-year-old daughter, Alexis. She used to go to sleep to Bob Marley but after a year, she wanted something new. Now she sleeps to this and sometimes I have to steal it out of her room so we can listen to it in the car together with my 5-year-old, Jaydon! Good music : )

4.0 out of 5 stars Parents can enjoy this too!, September 3, 2010

We're new Ben Rudnick & Friends fans after seeing them perform locally. This CD has a lot of different music influences (Irish, funk, bluegrass), which I love. The only drawback is that I wish it had all original songs. You'll definitely groove to "A Frog Named Sam."

5.0 out of 5 stars A rollicking good time!, August 30, 2010

This CD, "A Frog Named Sam" by Ben Rudnick and Friends, is about as much fun as you can have with your ears. Eleven whimsical, energetic and varied songs will have you tapping your toe, singing along or even out of your chair dancing a jig.

Eight of the songs are original including a mellow ballad about a frog who doesn't like water and therefore seeks his fortune in the city, a jazzy number about three fish (which is the only one I can't understand all the lyrics to), and a racy tune about race cars coming around the track. My two favorite songs (which alone make the CD well worthwhile) are "Drink It Up", a peppy swing-style love song, and "I Need A Hand", a witty take on street safety. My daughter laughs out loud when it gets to the part about "I need a penguin ... I need a toaster ..., etc." Too funny. There are also two instrumental jigs to get you tapping along.

The remaining three songs - "Erie Canal", "Old Joe Clark" and "Greensleeves" are Rudnick and Friends interpretations of traditional folk songs. I don't like them quite as much as the original songs, but they're still quite decent.

This CD is great for kids and adults alike. Not only will your kids have a great time, they'll also learn a number of different musical styles from country to jazz to swing to Irish jig. I wish it came with printed lyrics, but most of the songs are clear enough that they're easy to sing along to anyway. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Toddler music, May 7, 2010

My son and daughter (ages 3 & 4) listen to it often. The first song really gets you going and is fun. I think they'd like it more if there were more fast paced songs but they do really enjoy most of it. I think the slow songs are great. We listen to a lot of Dan Zanes and Laurie Berkner so if you are looking for adult friendly toddler music this is a good addition.

We purchased this after seeing a link from the Natick TCAN. I have 2 boys, we're really into kids music & this is one of our favorite CD's. The title track is AWESOME, the other songs are great too. It's a must buy. We can't wait to see Ben & Friends around the Boston area. I think we may become groupies.
