I must be doing something wrong, because this tape worked no better than the blue painter's tape you get at the hardware store. I still had plenty of leaks underneath the tape - no matter how carefully I applied and pressed it down. Last night, I taped the room for the stripes I was painting and by this morning, the tape was curling up and almost falling off in some places.
One bright spot in the first mess with this tape was that I did discover a very easy and almost foolproof way to get crisp lines for my stripes. I found this tip online. After taping the wall, put a small bead of clear caulk on your finger and wipe the edge that you will be painting. After that, take a barely wet cloth and wipe the edge clean so that there is no visible caulk. Let it dry and then paint your edge. The tiniest bit of caulk that is left under the tape edge is not visible, but prevented the paint from leaking under the tape. It really works great!

Product does what is says, best painters tape ever....,

We are remodeling our kitchen. I saw this tape at Home Depot and a local paint store. Then I did some research online and bought a roll of 1",1-1/2" and 2" to use on my kitchen project. I did my own test with some 3M blue painter tape too. Product does what is says, best painters tape ever. The 3M Blue tape did not do the job I had to clean the paint off the wood work along the edge. What a pain!
Frog Tape also comes in a plastic case that protects the roll when you drop it on the floor on the job site. This is the only painter tape I will buy or use.

Not worth the money. If the area you are taping is not perfectly flat or smooth, paint will bleed through. I bought the 1, 1.5 and 2 inch tape for the re-painting of my dining room. I taped the chair rail and bottom molding. I also used it to tape off the ceiling as well, I like clean lines. Well, this worked no better than the blue stuff. I used a good ammount of pressure on laying down the tape as it suggests, and certain sections just bled through, this may have been areas that were not perfectly smooth, but not visible to the naked eye. Save your money and use the blue tape, no discernable difference.

I came across this tape while web browsing one day and was intrigued by the promise of no bleed through. I bought a roll and tried it on a living room filled with moldings and built-ins. The results were the best of any tape I have used! One trick I learned was to rub a fingernail on the paint side edge to set the tape. It is nice to find a product that works as advertised. I bought five rolls, (to save shipping) from Amazon to finish the job, and will get more for the next rooms my wife has been eying.

Is tape supposed to stick to the wall?,
This review is from: Frog Tape 82011 Pro Painters Masking Tape, 1-Inch by 60-Yards, Green (Tools & Home Improvement)
Why are there so many mixed reviews with this tape? it eaither works great or dosnt work at all... The roll I got will not even stick to the wall, but others complain that frog tape sticks too well. What gives? This tape is compleetly unusable as it lacks the ability to do what tape is designed to do. I dont even know what to say because I feel like I am taking crazy pills. This tape is like a lawnmower that won't cut grass, or maybe non-alcoholic beer, decaf coffee? WTF?

It's Gotta Stick First ...,

I recently bought 1" (and 1.5") Frog Tape from a local home improvement store, and I have to say that this is the worst tape I have ever used for latex paint masking. And I have done *alot* of masking. The main issue with this tape is that it simply does not stick to the surface. I have no doubt that the advertised "chemical seal" would do the job if the tape was actually laying solidly on the wall surface. But this was absolutely not the case, no matter how much we repeatedly pushed the tape down. We even had to go back over and tape down the Frog Tape with the blue stuff just to get it to keep from peeling up.
Now, I'm sure that most of you are saying stuff like, "You must not have used it right", "Your walls must have been dirty", "You must have left it out of the plastic container too long," or "The tape must have been old." None of this was true. Here's what we did: 1. Bought the Frog Tape (along with paint) at the store. Took it home, kept it in the house, and did not open the plastic container(s). 2. Spent about a week painting before using the tape. Waited exactly 3 days after the wall paint dried (as required by the Frog Tape instructions -- another drawback). 3. Taped all the surfaces with the 1" Frog Tape. It was immediately apparent that the tape would not stick properly. It kept peeling up along most of the length of the tape. I kept going back with the blue stuff to tape down the areas that were pulling up. Note that this was on the *flat* surfaces of the wall, not on the contours. This should have been the easiest place to adhere. Returned the remaining tape to the plastic containers. 4. As we were painting the trim, would run the back of our fingernails over the edge of the Frog Tape to make sure it was flat on the wall. 5. Applied additional paint coats and waited for them to dry. 6. Removed the tape and was disgusted with the results. In the places where the tape actually stuck to the wall, it worked well (as well as the blue stuff if not better). But there were so many places where the paint had pulled away from the wall and it bled through. 7. For the next section of taping, we even went back to the store and bought the wider 1.5" tape just to give it more surface to adhere to. This was a big mistake -- the wider tape had exactly the same problem with adhering to the walls, and we had to tape over it again. Note that I'm not a big fan of the blue tape either (too thin, some bleed through, etc.), and that's why I wanted to try the Frog Tape in the first place (thicker/stronger, advertised paint seal, etc.). But I can tell you that I will never use it again -- with all the time it takes to tape in the first place, I cannot afford to have these types of problems. I'd rather have a tape that actually sticks to the wall. It was also much more expensive than other tape products. So it's back to the blue stuff until someone comes up with something better.

This is the best tape I have ever used. I have never done a review before but this stuff works so well I wanted to tell others to definately give it a try. We used it in our bathroom to do stripes...worked perfectly no bleeding!!

Average painting tape,
This review is from: Frog Tape 82011 Pro Painters Masking Tape, 1-Inch by 60-Yards, Green (Tools & Home Improvement)
We bought this tape in hopes that it would do better for us than regular blue painters tape in creating sharp lines on a built-in bookcase. It did not. It was not bad - it was just no better than the cheaper blue tape. Plus, it took the paint off of the wall (which had been painted weeks prior) so now we will have to patch it up.
Definitely not worth the extra money.

This is no better than the 3m Blue Tape and it's more expensive. The paint bled under the
frogtape. I applied it very carefully because I was working with 2 different colors and I didn't want to have to repaint. Don't waste your money.

I was repainting my Master Bedroom and wanted a medium brown boarder to frame our oak headboard. Because I wanted a crisp edge I paid the extra money for the FrogTape. I even followed the special instructions on their web site for textured walls and spent at least 30 extra minutes pressing the tape down firmly to the wall. The result? Just as crappy a feathered edge as any other masking tape. Will I have to touch up? Oh yea...and I'm looking at another 2 hours just to fix the mess! Will I buy the FrogTape again? Nope, that's one jump I won't make again.
