5.0 out of 5 stars "A Frog Thing" is a great thing!, October 13, 2006

This book is amazing! The pictures are unique in that they make you feel sorry for the charaters, but also laugh at the same time. It also delivers a powerful message about how you can do anything you put your mind to, no matter who or in this case "what" you are. This book is a must have for any childs library no matter the age.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best kids book I've seen in a long time, January 16, 2008
My 2-1/2 year old daughter received this book for Christmas from her aunt and uncle (because she was enchanted by the frogs in their pond when we visited earlier in the year). She and I love this book. It's so much fun to read and it's a great story. The other day we were going for long car ride so I gave her the book while I popped in the CD. WOW! It was wonderful - she could follow along easily with the page turning sound effects. The voices add a whole new dimension to our enjoyment of the book. We can't wait to see what the author produces next. THanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars You can do whatever you set your mind to!, August 28, 2011
Length:: 2:48 Mins

This book is excellent! Frank has a dream he wants to fly only one problem everyone tells him that frogs can't fly. He still dreams.

Frank is dreaming when he sees a baby bird in need. He helps. Because he helped the baby bird the mother bird helped him full fill his goal to fly.

Then Frank sets a new goal: to be the best swimmer in the pond.

So you can use this book to teach your child about the value of helping others, setting goals, and knowing what you are good at and being the best you can be.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Big Lesson for Small People, February 9, 2010
I've never seen a children's book so beautifully capture the balance between shooting for your dreams, while at the same time understanding your gifts and even limitations.

"You can do anything you set your mind too" is something we often tell children in efforts not to crush their young dreams. And who knows, we might have the next Michael Jordan sitting right in front of us.

Despite all our good intentions though, the statement is untrue. What we actually mean is, "Don't let the fact that something is hard or seems unattainable stop you from giving it your all." Frank learns the lesson in a way that is accessible to every child. He does achieve his dream in a sense but realizes that he wasn't created to fly...but he sure can swim. A big lesson for small people.

All philosophy aside, my children love the book and are obsessed with the CD that comes with it. It often plays for hours at a time as they follow along or use it as a background for doing other things.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frank is Fabulous!, May 7, 2007
My son is 2.5 and loves this book more than I can possibly describe. I purchased it in conjunction with Ellison the Elephant, by the same illustrator and author, and literally these two have been in his nightly request list since they arrived. The illustrations are lovely, and the 'lessons' are great and not in a heavy-handed delivery. There are audio CD's but I prefer to read them to my son.

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars A frog lover's view, November 28, 2006
We borrowed this book and cd from our library and just kept reading it over and over. The cd is well done also. I'm now looking to buy our own copy.

My children enjoyed Freddie so much. They felt sorry for him, laughed with him, and cheered for him. The illustrations are simply beautiful.

The story is about a little frog who wants to learn to fly, after all his parents had always told him he could do anything. He tries and tries but flying isn't a 'frog thing' it's a bird thing. Frankie's dream of flying becomes a reality when he is rewarded by a mother bird for rescueing her chick from the water. Read this wonderful book and find out how.

You'll love Frankie and his family, Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great children's book, April 30, 2007
Frog wants to fly! But flying is a bird thing and not a frog thing. Frog can do frog things but he wants to fly. Everyone tells him that he can do anything, as long as it is a frog thing. But you never know what might happen and how a frog might be able to do a bird thing. A Frog Thing is an excellent children's book and highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful story, great audio on the CD., May 6, 2011

This book seemed rather expensive when we first bought it, but I just LOVED the story, the message... After reading it more times, I've seen my children faces as they discover something new to think about each time.
About the story: Frank is a very strong-minded frog that really wants to fly.... and he sets his mind to it, but flying isn't exactly what frogs do...

5.0 out of 5 stars Be Your Best, June 6, 2010
A Frog Thing is about a young frog named Frankie. His loving parents raise him to believe that he can do "anything he sets his mind to". So, Frank decides he wats to fly. After many failed attempts, Frank becomes discouraged. But he still holds on to his dream of flying. This story has
a creative ending. A Frog Thing also comes with an audio CD which retells the story with sound effects. The illustrations are subtle and complement the book well.
This story will appeal to the 5-8 year olds out there who have dreams that may seem out of reach. Teachers will enjoy reading this book aloud to their students. The Adventures of Roxy and Mozart

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is not only a good book, but it comes along with a CD that reads the story, and incorporates some descent music into the CD that fits nicely into the story being told.
