3.0 out of 5 stars Works - to a point
Any wet towel will keep you cool if you keep moving it, flipping it over, etc. and this is no different. You have to move it around to keep cooling you. Don't expect to just hang it on your neck and stay cool. I use it exercising and move it every couple of minutes to keep the cool side against me. Bought this for an upcoming trip to a hot & humid destination. After some skepticism about bad reviews for some snap cooling towels, I came across Frogg Toggs and they all had glowing reviews, even if just a few. I decided to try them. They were out of stock on Amazon so that told me they must work! I went to Golfsmith's site directly and liked how I could see that it was available to ship (blue is more popular i guess.) Got 2 Khaki in stock. It comes in the tube w/ lid, nice if you want to store it in that while wet. The towel comes a bit stuck together but after reading directions you rinse in warm water and it loosens. Ours did not smell like i've read in another review. It has a textured side and a smooth side. The textured to cool, the smooth to absorb moisture. After wringing out excess water it starts to cool in a minute! Amazing and strange at the same time. It feels like a cold towel and you know it's wet but it doesn't get your clothes wet! You can wrap around neck or shoulder, or lay it on your lap or against your face, it's remarkably cool. After 2 hours I noted it was still cool. It says up to 4 hours depending on conditions, but you just keep wet and it keeps cool. You can wash it and it should last for years.

Hope to report back after the hot & humid trip to see how it did. Overall, great product, it really does work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Chilly Pad is the Coolest Thing Ever, June 18, 2009
This review is from: ProActive Frogg Togg Chilly Pad (Apparel)
I have tried product after product to stay cool in the searing heat of Indian Wells near Palm Springs as I watch tennis there. All were dismal failures until I came across the Chilly Pad. The first one was so impressive, that I bought two more. Put one over my head, one across my knees, and one on my arm. I felt like I was in a 75 degree room in 100 degree weather. Just keep a water bottle handy, or refill your drink cup with water to rehydrate when they dry, then twist to distribute. Fabulous. I bought 10 more for my family members to use when we go to hot football games. They all begged to use mine. If I could give it 6 stars, I would! Any Mom who needs to sit out in the heat watching her kids play ball would love this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't get a hot head!, June 18, 2009

This is my first Amazon review and I couldn't wait to tell the world about Chilly Pads! I'm planning a trip to DC over July 4th weekend and I wanted to find a cooling towel to keep me from fainting in front of the Capitol from the hot, humid DC weather. So after searching for other towels that you snap (won't name names), I found Frogg Toggs Chilly Pads on Amazon in fuscia and khaki...they have other great colors. I was able to purchase a pink one for me and a khaki towel for my boyfriend for $12.95/each.
As soon as they arrived, I popped one open (it comes in a cool container). All I can say is I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Chilly Pad! It arrives pre-moistened (directions say to store it while it's still moist) and it has a very pleasant smell to it...kind of like amaretto or Cherry Blossom lotion. It cools you right away. And the best part is that it even cools down your body temperature because you still feel cool for awhile even after using it. And it's large enough (13 x 36) to wrap around your shoulders and arms. But it folds easily to fit in your purse...although it's moist, it doesn't cause any water damage.
I highly recommend this product to anyone who deals with heat at all. Use it to cool down at night before going to bed, at your desk, indoors, outdoors, wherever!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, November 30, 2010

The towel works exactly as advertised, and remains cool as long as it is wet. It is durable and lightweight; my only complaint is that it isn't a shirt so I could wear it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but has limitations, August 25, 2010
My son plays year round baseball in the South so we really needed some extra help in staying cool. This works well, however, in order for it to stay really cool you need to keep dunking it in cold water.

We keep a cooler in the dugout and the boys put the Chilly Pad's in there in between uses. I keep a small cooler of ice water with me to keep mine in. You can also fan it in the air to cool it off again but that's not as good as the ice water, obviously.

Last weekend we played in over 100 degree weather and I do not know what I would have done without it. It truly kept my body from overheating.

This towel makes the heat on the golf course easy to beat. I highly recommend this product. Wrap it around your neck and enjoy the cool for hours. It's also good for working in the yard.

Any wet towel will keep you cool if you keep moving it, flipping it over, etc. and this is no different. You have to move it around to keep cooling you. Don't expect to just hang it on your neck and stay cool. I use it exercising and move it every couple of minutes to keep the cool side against me. The only advantage it has over a regular towel is that it is lighter and doesn't drip unless you don't wring it out at all. That I like.

Note the printed logo on the towel will spot up the rest of it. Mine is orange and looks mildewy, but is just logo paint spots. I pour peroxide or mouthwash on mine periodically to disinfect it. It is made of some kind of plastic/rubbery synthetic material. You may be able to get the same thing at a lower price. The price has gone up dramatically since the heat wave set in. It is not worth it at this price (21.00+).

Also, you want to wash it well before using. It must have silicone or something on it to keep it soft in the tube, because it dies hard like cardboard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shammy in disguise, April 13, 2010
Frogg Togg has come up with a sport twist on the shammy and made them in fun colors. I bought one at a sporting goods store for running. I did not right away connect the frogg togg towel to the shammy. I say kudos to them for thinking of yet another way to use one but you can get them cheaper other places.

Now as far as my experience with it for the purpose I got it for. I am training for a marathon so I run. I run a lot. I sweat a lot. The frogg togg is great for absorbing the sweat from my face and neck all while staying cool. I have benefited from its use mostly in a gym though while training on a treadmill. It is by no means tiny and runners need to pack light. I drape it over the arm of the treadmill and its there when I need it. I don't need it when running outdoors as much anyway because I have wind in my face unlike at the stuffy gym.

The golfer mentioned that his was drying out which proved useless to him and I can completely relate that if in sun or a hot car, yes it will dry more quickly. I think the tube it comes in is a little cumbersome so I stick mine in a gallon ziplock bag, take it out when I get to the gym, put it back in when I am done until I can get home to get it in the washer.

Overall, I like this much better than a towel. It is smooth as butter so it doesn't feel scratchy on my face. Also I have found that some fabrics ie. shirt sleeves or even using my hand to wipe sweat away can really burn my face. Some may be the salt in my sweat from my hands being wiped onto my cleaner more sensitive face and some may be the fabric softner/soap left behind in the towel or shirt. Either way I like my frogg togg and will continue to use it happily.

4.0 out of 5 stars It does help to stay cooler, October 12, 2010
Bought a blue chilly pad for playing golf on hot days. It does stay very cool and nice to touch when your skin is hot. I put it around my neck between golf swings. It does dry out around the edges in low humidity and I have to refresh it with water after a couple of hours. I do let it completely dry out and store on a shelf between uses. I just don't like the idea of storing it damp and possibly getting mildew or a bad odor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love mine, August 15, 2010
This review is from: ProActive Frogg Togg Chilly Pad (Apparel)
I was given one of these in Iraq. It helps keep you cool and is a fantastic light-weight, low-bulk towel. Tired of getting out of the shower in hot climates just to start sweating again? This thing helps. Even when damp (never been able to "soak" one), it'll still wipe you dry and keep you cool. I was given one of these and also a McNett microfiber towel. I like both, but I if I had to bug out "light" and carry just one, this is the one I'd take.
