Bought this for an upcoming trip to a hot & humid destination. After some skepticism about bad reviews for some snap cooling towels, I came across Frogg Toggs and they all had glowing reviews, even if just a few. I decided to try them. They were out of stock on Amazon so that told me they must work! I went to Golfsmith's site directly and liked how I could see that it was available to ship (blue is more popular i guess.) Got 2 Khaki in stock. It comes in the tube w/ lid, nice if you want to store it in that while wet. The towel comes a bit stuck together but after reading directions you rinse in warm water and it loosens. Ours did not smell like i've read in another review. It has a textured side and a smooth side. The textured to cool, the smooth to absorb moisture. After wringing out excess water it starts to cool in a minute! Amazing and strange at the same time. It feels like a cold towel and you know it's wet but it doesn't get your clothes wet! You can wrap around neck or shoulder, or lay it on your lap or against your face, it's remarkably cool. After 2 hours I noted it was still cool. It says up to 4 hours depending on conditions, but you just keep wet and it keeps cool. You can wash it and it should last for years.

Hope to report back after the hot & humid trip to see how it did. Overall, great product, it really does work!

I have tried product after product to stay cool in the searing heat of Indian Wells near Palm Springs as I watch tennis there. All were dismal failures until I came across the Chilly Pad. The first one was so impressive, that I bought two more. Put one over my head, one across my knees, and one on my arm. I felt like I was in a 75 degree room in 100 degree weather. Just keep a water bottle handy, or refill your drink cup with water to rehydrate when they dry, then twist to distribute. Fabulous. I bought 10 more for my family members to use when we go to hot football games. They all begged to use mine. If I could give it 6 stars, I would! Any Mom who needs to sit out in the heat watching her kids play ball would love this.

I purchased this Chilly Pad, as an impulse buy recently, as I had been dealing with some hot flashes in recent times. I have since used it in several different situations, and have come to really appreciate it. Not only that, but I recently traveled and we experienced a power failure, with the outdoor temperature at 100 degrees. Without access to air conditioning or even a fan, in 100 degree heat, it was super uncomfortable and almost impossible to sleep at night. I really missed my Chilly Pad at that moment, and really wished that I had thought to carry it with me on my trip "just in case". Now the Chilly Pad will be placed on my packing list for future trips where hot weather might be a concern. Now, here are the details, including why I really like this product, and finally, a couple potential drawbacks that could be deal-breakers for some people (such as my husband).

The Chilly Pad is a scarf-shaped piece of fabric that, when wet, stays quite cool against the skin, and seems to stay cool for hours, in my experience. In fact, as I write this review, I am wearing it around my neck, in my house, and I actually am cool to the point of experiencing some chills ... even though, I last wet the Chilly Pad four hours ago, then wore it outdoors, in 90 degree heat earlier today, for over an hour ... and yet it is still wet and cooling me four hours later! That's just remarkable!

It seems to be a rather unique fabric. When wet, it is smooth, completely flexible, and sort of rubbery. It is extremely light-weight to carry or wear. Even wet, it seems to be practically weightless. It cools the skin, as long as it stays wet. However, once it dries, it becomes like a very stiff cardboard-like substance that is completely rigid and unbendable.

BEWARE! This towel can cause a serious skin rash! My son used it for the first time at football camp yesterday and came home with a nasty skin rash on the back of his neck. The trainer at football camp just called and said the rash is starting to spread. This isn't noted anywhere on the Frogg Togg packaging. I have included a picture of my sons neck so you can see exactly how bad the rash is.

I don't quite understand why some of the negative reviews compare this towel to a "shammy" but that is definitely incorrect. The material of this towel is not shammy material at all and when a shammy is wet, it doesn't become chilly or cold like this towel does. I purchased my towel today and purposely did not turn on any air conditioning so that I could "test" it. The temp outside today was close to 90 degrees so today was a good day. I must admit that I have never been more impressed with a cooling product. I stay especially hot all of the time especially in the summer months. My hubby doesn't like to sleep with the windows open or the ceiling fans on when the temperature drops at night but I do because it still feels like 100 to me. In order to compensate for his "coldness" I decided to try this towel. WOW!!! Is all I can say. I soaked it pretty good with an ample amount of water and placed it around my neck while cooking. I felt as if I had a built in air conditioner. I find that this towel works ESPECIALLY great if used near a ceiling fan or regular fan. It cools off more quickly and really feels as if I am in an air conditioned room. Can't wait to try it tonight while sleeping. So far 20 stars!!!
