Frogger Plug It In and Play TV Arcade

This all-in-one joystick has a NES-quality port of the old arcade game Frogger. Nothing more, nothing less. It's not particularly faithful, especially to your ears -- the sound and music are completely redone. The graphics and control are nice, though.

If you really want Frogger without buying a full-fledged game console, a much better choice would be the "Konami TV Arcade" from the same manufacturer, which includes this version of Frogger in addition to ports of 5 different old Konami games (Gyruss, Kung Fu, Rush N Attack, Time Pilot, and Scramble). Search for Amazon item number B0002IQOQE.

Yeah, I bought this thing, as I am collecting as many of these TV games-things as I can. The version of Frogger on here is ok, at best, but it's certainly not emulation. For 20 bucks, and for only one game, I expected a near-perfect emulation (or at least a decent re-creation)of the original arcade game!

As I've stated in my other reviews, I wish the people making these TV games would endeavor to make the emulation as close to the real thing as possible or just not bother. I often wonder if the people creating these TV-games even compared their work to the actual machine(s)!

Yes, to those who've only casually played this game back in the day (and have never seen it emulated in MAME since then), a unit like this would probably give them some enjoyment. But, to anyone like myself, who has been playing these old coin-op games forever and even owns a few actual machines, many of these TV-game units have been disapointing, to say the least.

I don't know who researched this game, but gone is the original Frogger theme music and catchy tune as you play. The buttons help add to the response time for leaping, but only forward. But the graphics and game play are there, and that is what matters.

Don't get me wrong, I like Frogger just fine, but more could have been done with this game. And the fact that it is a single game unit makes the boredom factor catch up to it quickly, unless you are a true Frogger addict. I returned this unit after I bought a similar joystick with about 5 games on it. Same Frogger translation on that as well.

Of course, there is no educational value in this game. Why does Frogger die when he jumps in water? He's a frog! {;-P

Great for the Frogger lover, and probably handles better than the other joystick, but not worth more than 15 bucks on a generous day.

I've been reading the reviews, all written by adults. None of them seem to remember this is a game created for kids. And if my grandsons are any indication, the kids love it. Adults, go buy yourselves the high priced machines and stop trying to spoil the fun for kids! For $20 is it a good value. Have you priced kids' games lately?

We love it! The music is a bit different but the game itself plays just like the original. The cars do seem to zoom at the poor helpless frog a lot faster though! We had no problems with it. The controls work great. We plugged it in and played for hours the first day. If you enjoyed playing Frogger in the 80's, you would probably like this game a lot! Kids would love this game too. It's easy to set up the game and begin play. The newer games kids play today just don't compare to the good old classics like Frogger. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up on this one!!!!

Yes, it only has ONE game. And it is said to be the same version as in one of the multi-game plug & plays, but this one holds its own nonetheless.
It's a pretty true-to-form version of the Frogger of years past, and it remains a challenge because the more advanced levels (5+) are quite difficult. My wife loves it, my young children love it, and I enjoy picking it up every once in a while to reminisce. None of us would be considered "gamers," but after growing during the golden age of video games, I find this product delightful.

A nice game loved by several in my family. I only wish it did not require batteries to operate.

This game was bought as a gift for my neice in the Midwest. The product is fine as she loves it. The problem I had was the shipping charges were as much as the product which was disappointing.

I bought this game for my son because I remember playing it as a child. It is a little advanced for him past the first stage but he loves to try. We have several of the Plug and Play games and I was a little disappointed that this one only has one game for the same price as the others which have 4 or 5 games.

This game is just like I remember the arcade game. The graphics are great and it, like the other Plug n Play games, is extremely easy to use. The adults in our house like playing but can obviously get bored pretty easy but my 7 and 4 yr olds like it a lot. The four year old has quite learned how to get around the cars or navigate the river but occasionally he gets lucky. It's not really educational other than something along the lines of hand/eye coordination. The great thing is is that it easily plugs into the dvd player in the car - it doesn't take up much room and the cord is long enough to reach back to the third seat. I'm already in the market for more of these type games for long road trips.
