If You Like Froggy Books, This is One of the Better Ones,
By
This review is from: Froggy Goes to the Doctor (Hardcover)
I feel a little sheepish giving this 5 stars. Frankly, I don't much care for the Froggy series. Here's the truth, though - it doesn't matter what I think. My 5-year-old loves all the Froggy books, and they serve as great motivators for him to continue learning to read. I'd recommend this book over most of the other Froggy books. Froggy's misbehavior is (thankfully) not a major topic here, and the book conveys a useful lesson about doctors. Recommended.

ANOTHER KID FAVORITE,
This review is from: Froggy Goes to the Doctor (Hardcover)
I am much like another reviewer here (Nelson). I do not really care all that much for the froggy books myself, this one included. BUT...the kids all love them! I have yet to find one young child that did not what this and the other Froggy Book read to them over and over and over again. This, as the other reviewer pointed out, is what counts. I must say though that I found this particular book rather good in helping children understand the process of going to the doctor. Most of them do fear it, just like Froggy, and this work points out the fact that most of these fears are rather unnecessary. I like that. Recommend this one.

Ugh!,
By LAK "lakdek" (Newtown, PA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Froggy Goes to the Doctor (Paperback)
I have a few Froggy books and can't stand them. (Got them orignially because my daughter loved frogs.) They have awkward text (ie: the augthor calls a saxophone a "sax" & I object to using slang at this young of an age; kids should learn the full word)and some of the messages are just strange as in this one where the doctor teases Froggy by making him think he's going to get a shot (and he's been worrying about whether he was going to get one or not already)-- she pulls out a needle, then says no, she was kidding. Yikes! Why in the world would a kid need to worry that the doctor is going to scare him with a shot??!! It's tough enough that at this age they are getting so many shots! I don't need a book telling my kid she should be afraid. There are so many other good books that I honestly wouldn't (and don't) waste my money on this series. I think they are poorly written in every respect. I don't recommend this or any of the Froggy books to anyone. While the kids do seem to like them, I think they won't be missing anything if these books don't make it to your book shelf.

Vulgar,

This review is from: Froggy Goes to the Doctor (Paperback)
I may as well confess it -- I am not a fan of Froggy.
We've read a lot of Froggy, and I feel like I've given him a fair shake. My kids like Froggy, but then my kids are enchanted by the experience of being read to, so they like most books. Froggy goes Swimming is about the only Froggy book I can enjoy, and even then, Froggy backtalks a lot and there is stupid slapstick pants-falling-off humor. Froggy goes to the Doctor has Froggy misbehaving quite a bit -- sassing his mother, throwing a paper airplane in the waiting room that hits the doctor in the eye, yelling into the stethoscope, kicking the doctor during the reflex check. And then the doctor unnecessarily takes revenge on Froggy by joking that he has to get a shot. I'm not much on grown-ups taking revenge on children. Eh. I think my kids can figure out enough ways to misbehave on their own. If I wanted examples of bad behavior beamed into their eyeballs, I wouldn't have cancelled the cable TV.

My Boys Love This Book!,
This review is from: Froggy Goes to the Doctor (Paperback)
The first time we read this book, my four-year-old twin boys were rolling on the floor laughing hysterically! They loved it when Froggy's mom made him the underwear that looked like a diaper. Equally funny was when Froggy fell off the bench, grossed out the doctor with his bad breath, and accidentally knocked her down when she checked his reflexes. My twins ask for this highly entertaining book over and over again. We're really happy we discovered this series.

Kids LOVE Froggy...,
By
This review is from: Froggy Goes to the Doctor (Paperback)
My daughter found the Froggy books at the library at first. We both fell in love with the books and I ordered them for her for Christmas. Like many children, Froggy is nervous about going to the doctor. The events that occur at the doctor's office are laugh-out-loud hilarious! I recommend any and all of the Froggy books to parents with young children.

My Son's Favorite,
By
This review is from: Froggy Goes to the Doctor (Paperback)
We have read a lot of Froggy books, but this is by far my son's favorite. He laughs out loud every time we read it. He first heard it at school, so we normally borrow them from the library, but this one we had to add to our "library". It's very funny and great for kid's who are nervous about doctor visits.

We say Maam/Sir instead of WHAT,
By Sophie's Mom (North Carolina USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Froggy Goes to the Doctor (Paperback)
I have ready many reviews on the Froggy books, but for me and my daughter, WE LOVE THEM!!! The main complaint I hear it that Froggy has bad manners. It's a book. It's my job to teach my daughter how to behave, not a fictional book. I do alter the book slightly. When Froggy's mom or dad calls his name they say F-R-O-O-O-O-G-G-G-Y-Y-Y and he answers W-W-H-H-A-A-A-T-T. We change that to Maam or Sir depending on who is calling him. My daughter thinks it's cute and sometimes I'll say FROGGY!!! and she says maam?!? If you have a child you can't handle, then don't buy the book but to everyone else, it's GREAT so I absolutely recommend it.

Wow!,

This review is from: Froggy Goes to the Doctor (Hardcover)
This froggy books is as good as the rest of the froggy books. My 22 month old loves the froggy books. They are her favorite books to read. Froggy goes to the doctor is great for kids. I really like Froggy! This froggy book is great, it teaches the kids that froggy doesn't like going to the doctor just like them! Froggy is great for teaching kids things!! My 22 month old loved this book. She goes to the bookcase and always brings me a froggy book when she wakes up in the morning! This a must have!!

Hide it!,

This review is from: Froggy Goes to the Doctor (Hardcover)
This book was a gift to our daughter (nearly three). She loved the Froggy Goes to Bed book and I defended Froggy's misbehavior because that book kept her attention and was a favorite. However, Froggy Goes to the Doctor went beyond our line. Our daughter has never feared the doctor. After her two year check up she had to have blood drawn. She didn't flinch, and afterward she said she had "fun". I am very cautious that she does not "learn" to be afraid of doctors. I am less concerned about Froggy's misbehavior as I am about his fear of getting a shot. We hid the book, out of sight out of mind...
