ATTENTION SOCCER MOMS!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Froggy Plays Soccer (Library Binding)
My four-year-old son loves all of the Froggy books! And when he signed up to play soccer, we read this book every night for the entire season. He chants "Head it, boot it, knee it, shoot it . . . " before every game or practice. We are now buying a copy for the team to autograph and give to the coach. Every soccer mom should get this book! (As well as the other Froggy books!)

He's back! A really fun and exciting book for soccer fans...Froggy and his gang of friends are good sports, and have a lot of fun while becoming champions of good attitude, and their league. A great book for parents too, it highlights the fun that should be team competition...and, of course, it's very funny...

Book falls apart,
This review is from: Froggy Plays Soccer (Paperback)
This is my grandson's favorite Froggy story. However, the quality of the paper back book is abysmal. Both copies fell apart within 24 hours, with the middle pages detaching almost at once. Children's books must be durable and these are not. Don't waste your money.

Froggy Plays Soccer,

Do you like soccer? Then come to see a soccer game with Froggy. Froggy Plays Soccer is a book about Froggy playing soccer. First, Froggy gets dressed for his big soccer game. Then Froggy's father takes him to the game. Froggy starts picking his nose. Suddenly the ball bounces off Froggy's chest. Find out what happens next.
I like many parts in this book. One part I like is pretty disgusting. That part is when Froggy picks his nose. I like this nasty part. Do you like this disgusting part? This book is very interesting. It may even be interesting to babies. You should get this book. If you want to get this book, go to the Scholastic Book Club. I recommend that you read this book. My son loves this book, but after about 4 readings it started to fall apart and about 5 pages are now floating around somewhere in my house. Great book, just get the hardcover copy.

Just mailing it in at this point,

The original "Froggy Gets Dressed" book was extremely clever. But this book is the weakest brand extension since Lego clothing. It includes the basic Froggy elements (sound effects starting with z, authority figures yelling "FRROOGGYY", and our noble protagonist turning more red than green) but you have to wonder when the most original part of the story is Froggy picking his nose. Of course, if your child likes Froggy and likes soccer they will love the book, but I wish the authors had put a bit more effort into it.

A real "nose-picker" of a book!,

I was shocked that Froggy screams back, "WHAAAAAAAAT" so rudely whenever his father yells his name (well, whattya expect when the father is always yelling FROGGGGGY!!!). Not a good example to follow. Also, in this one, Froggy openly picks his nose. Is that supposed to be funny? maybe for a certain crowd, but again, not a good example for young children to follow. Crude at best. I will not be buying any more of these books. Froggy always turning more red than green in every book is also very annoying.

As a fairly new reader of Jonathan London's stories about Froggy I really enjoyed this one. The really neat combination of amphibian and human characterisities makes Froggy a favorite with students. In this one Froggy is on a soccer team and tries to follow the rules and inadvertally wins the game for his side, So he goes home a hero to a snack of milk and dried flies.

My six year old grandson loves these books and they don't drive me crazy reading them over and over. There are also a lot of them so I can always add to his collection. They make great companions to the more classic Frog an Toad books. (What is it about frogs and little boys?)
