4.0 out of 5 stars Difference betweena toad and a frog, December 22, 2008
By
This review is from: Frogs (Hardcover)
Thanks to this wonderful book my daughter knows the difference between a toad and a frog and so do I. This book is full of wonderful photography.I really like the larger bold print sentences which are intended for the younger children and attention spans. They learn quite a bit from them.

I recommend this book for any parent who has a child animal crazy like mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Frogs, May 10, 2010
This review is from: Frogs (Hardcover)
I teach 3rd - 5th grade and several of my students read and reviewed the book Frogs, by Nic Bishop.

You should check out this book! It teaches about frogs. It gives you a lot of information about frogs. Did you know that some bullfrogs can stay underwater? The pictures are awesome because they give us a visual. We get to see a lot of colorful frogs. There is a picture of an African bullfrog that has eaten a mouse. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!

You should look at Frogs by Nick Bishop. You will get a lot of information from it. Did you know that bullfrogs lay 20,000 eggs? I didn't until I read Frogs. Did you know that tadpoles can eat small animals and change as they grow? The pictures are awesome because they give us a visual. We see a picture of some baby tadpoles that can form into big frogs. A red eyed tree frog can grow to be 2-3 inches, but when they are that young they are tiny and the picture shows that. I think you should check out Frogs.

You should buy the book Frogs by Nic Bishop. This is a great book if you like frogs. This book has a lot of details. For example, it tells you how a bull frog ate 17 young cobras. I also have learned that flying frogs can jump and glide. There are some fantastic pictures in this book. I saw how tadpoles get eaten by water bugs. A spade foot toad can bury itself. If you get to see the book Frogs, I "hop" you like it!

Frogs is a good book. Did you know there is a gliding frog? I did not and then I read this book. This book has great pictures. It shows you what an
X-ray frog looks like and you can see if it's poisonous or not. You should jump out to the store to buy this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Spectacular, April 14, 2009
This review is from: Frogs (Hardcover)
Perfect for my 8 year old daughter who is studying frogs in school, but mesmerizing for the rest of the family as well. Incredible photography, worth the purchase price for that alone, but good text as well. Thanks for an awesome book. I will be looking for more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Children's Literature, May 23, 2011
This review is from: Frogs (Hardcover)
Frogs by Nic Bishop is just one of many amazing picture books he has done. Bishop has an incredible talent for capturing beautiful photographs, especially in this book. He does a wonderful job of informing readers about these colorful amphibians as he explains everything from how poisonous they can be, to where they live, to their non stop eating habits. He truly makes the experience of reading the book as though you went right alone with him taking pictures in rainforests, swamps, ponds, and rivers. The text in the book also brings the book to life, for example when he talks about a frog's camouflage he backs it up by typing the text in almost the same color as the background. I also like that he highlights the main points in each page by change the font size to a much bigger size as well as changing the color so that the words pop out. The book also has good imagery for little children, since they can relate to picking up frogs at one point or another and watching them slip between their fingers as they try to get away. I truly enjoyed the book because I love colorful book with beautiful pictures, and I especially love when I can enjoy a book and be informed and learn something new at the same time.
