Editorial Reviews

The Chicago quintet merges the two seamlessly on its debut album, From Birth To Soil, available September 25 via Density Records. Siphoning guttural growls through catchy riffs and an extreme percussive stomp, the group Chris Angelucci, Luke Tobias, Ryan Kasparian, Jeremy Pyrzynski, and Brian Kutanovski pummels unlike anyone else on the scene.
Encrust formally came together in May 2010. As he was driving home from work one night, Pyrzynski received a call from a friend suggesting he hit the studio with the band to record a three-song demo. From the moment he jammed with the other four members, the chemistry proved instantaneous and inimitable. That infectious intensity also remains a pillar of the band's live shows. They've shared the stage with the likes of everyone from Red Fang and Corrosion of Conformity to Goatwhore and Exhumed, and the result is always a bloodthirsty battering of the highest order.

Encrust is a Sludge/Stoner Metal Band that combines Sludge, Stoner, Thrash and Hardcore into a unique sound. The short samples listed here don't really do justice to any individual song because each song has a lot of variety and can shift from fast to slow sludge in a heartbeat. This music is doom-like at times and the lead singer, Chris Angelucci, sings like a wounded, dying animal. In other words, the vocals are simply wonderful.

This album is a master blend of heavy metal from beginning to end. It is like lava flowing down the side of a volcano. Deep, slow and heavy at times, then fast and nimble. Unlike many other albums, every song on this album is fantastic. I heard Predatory Skin on Sirius Liquid Metal and was immediately hooked. I was very happy that Amazon carries this kind of music in a digital download.

This band is unique and headed for glory. If you like slow sludge/doom as well as fast-paced metal, strap in for a great listen.

Encrust jam. Sound a lot like gorefest, who I really like. Not like the cookie cutter metal ore bullshit that has saturated the market these days.

It's ok, not great not bad. I wouldn't throw it out the window in a fit of rage for wasting money.
