About the Author

Simon Morrell is one of the United Kingdom’s leading Martial Artists and Inspirational Speakers but it hasn’t always been this way and his success has been hard come by. As a young child he was badly bullied which grew into violent assaults as he approached early adulthood. An attempted stabbing took place by a vicious youth during a particularly frightening period and further beatings followed. Simon became agoraphobic and suffered from life changing panic attacks before deciding he had endured enough. He entered the world of Martial Arts to gain confidence and quickly surprised himself and his loved ones by excelling in it. Today he holds multiple Black Belts including 6th Dan Karate and Dan Grade Krav Maga as well as being a two time Hall of Fame winner. He speaks around the country about his troubles and victories and his story is currently being made into the film Fight Back in the USA. He has spoken in the International Press and on the BBC about his experiences and is currently represented by New York publicist, Mr Bruce Lynn.

From bullied to black belt; a true story by Simon Morrell.

This is the autobiographic story of Simon Morrell, now a British high ranking martial artist and writer whose book, this book, is developed into a movie at the moment.

However as we will learn from the pages of this book Simon hasn’t always been this highly successful martial artist.

The book starts with a foreword by world famous martial artist and self-defense instructor Geoff Thompson followed by a prologue.

Then Simon’s story starts at the playground of a school where he gets bullied for the first time. The first chapters describe stories of Simon being tormented by some of the worst case bullying. It’s hard not to feel taken on an emotional journey reading this especially if you have been subjected to bullying yourself.

Then he finds salvation in the martial arts. However when depression and phobia’s kick in he has to fight another kind of bully. Reminding a bit of the rocky quote about nobody being able to hit as hard as life itself. The quote continues that it will knock you down and keep you there permanently if you let it. Simon however decided to not let life keep him down there and fought back.

This is where he found inspiration from Geoff Thompson’s books and connects to the man himself who gives him inspiration and help.

With this support of his wife and friends like Geoff he goes for his black belt.

This is followed by another story, another adventure and victory for Simon.

It’s the story of how a man who is struggling finds inspiration from discovering how his hero, the guy he looks up to very much went through the same thing.
