Book Description

June 3, 2008
The American public school system, once the envy of the world, is now a cesspool of political correctness, ineptitude and violence, yet its administrators demand - and receive - far more funding per child than do higher-performing private and religious schools. From "teachers" who can barely comprehend English to the elevation of foreign cultures and ideals above our own, from the mainstreaming of violent juvenile felons to demands that "queer studies" be considered as vital as math, our classrooms have become havens for indoctrination, sexual license and failed educational fads. In From Crayons to Condoms, you'll experience today's public schools as never before, through the voices of parents and children left stranded in the system, the same voices that teachers unions and school administrators are determined to stifle. Here's a "must-read" for every parent concerned about their child's future, and for every taxpayer sick of being dunned endlessly to prop up a failed system.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"I intend to make this book required reading for all of my listeners. I have been fighting the prevelant anti-values agenda in our schools for decades. Thank you for the courage to reveal the ugly truth." -- Dr. Laura Schlessinger, syndicated talk show host

From the Back Cover

The American public school system, once the envy of the world, is now a cesspool of political correctness, ineptitude and violence, yet its administrators demand - and receive - far more funding per child than do higher performing private and religious schools.

In From Crayons to Condoms: The Ugly Truth About America's Public Schools, you'll experience today's public schools as never before, through the voices of parents, students and dedicated teachers left stranded in the system, the same voices that school administrators are determined to stifle.

Here's a "must-read" for every parent concerned about their child's future, and for every taxpayer sick of being dunned endlessly to prop up a system that produces little but failure.

5.0 out of 5 stars A strong choice for conservative parents. August 7, 2008
Format:Hardcover
What is going on in the classrooms of America? "From Crayons to Condoms: The Ugly Truth About America's Public Schools" is an examination of America's public school system and the problems with its education outside of the academic curriculum. Written from a strict Christian perspective, "From Crayons to Condoms" speaks on the subjects of multiculturalism, sexual education, evolution, religious tolerance, and more, and explains why certain topics may be objectionable to parents and students. Arranged in a story by story, case by case basis, "From Crayons to Condoms" is a strong choice for conservative parents.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Eye Opener June 22, 2008
Format:Hardcover
When Steve Baldwin chaired the California Assembly Education Committee, he shook up the education community with hearings on phonics, math, vouchers and others issues. It was Baldwin who led the fight on creating state-wide standards and a state-wide test. Now, with this book, he continues to shake things up. This book is a collection of over 80 amazing stories told by parents and even some teachers. The stories will blow your mind and there are clear patterns that exist - the brush off of the parents by school administrators, the refusal of the schools to listen to their concerns, etc. Some of the stories are heartbreaking and others will make you angry. The overall portrait of schools that emerges from this book is one of schools that care more about social engineering than academics.

5.0 out of 5 stars No Wonder Johnny Can't Read - Or Do Math! June 23, 2008
Format:Hardcover
Rap music played during math class; ninth graders performing plays using foul language; assigning a child to read a book about female genital mutilation; surveys of students asking how much money their parents make.

All this and much, much more is going on in American public schools. And it's documented in "From Crayons To Condoms" in fast-moving anecdotal notes from teachers and parents.

This book is a must-read for every parent of a school-age child. But it doesn't stop with simply documenting the horrors occurring in classrooms across the country. It gives parents tools for preventing their infliction on their kids, help in dealing with what could not be prevented, and legal resources. And there's an invaluable list of entities that evaluate curricula of all kinds.

Yes, it's no wonder Johnny can't read or do math...he was too busy learning why Justin has two daddies, what those daddies do in bed and why one of them may need to wear a rubber dental dam in his mouth. Really.
