Customer Reviews

The postcards are very thin and flimsy.

I do not think they will survive the postal system very well unless sent in an envelope, and what is the point of sending a postcard in an envelope?
annabanana
These postcards are pretty uneventful... they're just words on flimsy paper.

Well, I imagine Miss Austen herself would have a few choice words to say about this set of postcards. The cards themselves are very pretty. The color choices are nicely neutral and the quotes are printed with different fonts that are pleasing to look at. However, the postcards are printed on very thin card stock. This is not typical postcard weight paper. The paper choice gives the cards a 'cheap' feel. I do not think they will survive the postal system very well unless sent in an envelope, and what is the point of sending a postcard in an envelope?

The style of these cards are really lovely, but you do not get 100 different cards, you get four sets of twenty five styles, I believe. I give the product 2 stars for pretty designs, and it looks nice on my shelf, but it isn't at all functional. I would frame these, possibly, but I think they would shred in the mail. A single piece of printer paper folded over three times is a little more sturdy than this cardstock. I will be buying blank cards to paste onto the back if I want to send them out in the mail.

My fault for pre-ordering an item with no reviews, but maybe they will be useful for scrapbooking or some other activity. Certainly not for what I wanted... which is their intended purpose.

I agree with the other two reviewers. These postcards pale in comparison to any other proper postcard. The paper is extremely cheap and flimsy that they probably wouldn't survive an international route, let alone a domestic one. To be fair, the designs are lovely (if you like loopy cursive), but you only get a variety of 25. I still can't get over the horrible choice of such thin paper.

I would return this, but I bought it as a gift and the recipient didn't mind the quality since she said she wouldn't be mailing them (arts and crafts projects instead). So, if you're on the hunt for interesting postcards, don't bother buying these. You'll just be really disappointed. Get the Penguin Postcard boxset instead. Now those are AWESOME.

The box is attractive, but the postcards are disappointing. The postcards are very thin and flimsy. There are 25 quotes, reproduced 4 times in varying muted color palettes. Despite my love of all things Austen, I cannot recommend these cards for any mail fans.

Two stars for Jane Austen's words. The cards are just crap. Duplicated 4 times. Don't even bother to buy them.

I had been thinking about buying these for a while but was put off by the price, so I was excited to find these at a different retailer for $13. However, I find these really rather trite. To me, it would've made a lot more sense to include actual quotes that one can relate even to today's events or, perhaps, trials and tribulations - instead, many of the excerpts from novels and correspondences stand alone without context, without purpose. The graphics are nice on some but overall rather monotonous - and the real shame, in my view, is a complete absence of any renderings of Jane Austen herself. I was really hoping for something intriguing and exciting such as the typography bust on the box - which is NOT part of the set. Moreover, you actually get 2 each of 50 different designs though somewhat similar; and the box is very deceptive because a cardboard insert inside means that the box leads you to believe you're getting a big stack or thick, quality postcards - when the reality is that the cards themselves actually only take up HALF the box. Overall not a terrible set but not one to write home about - certainly nothing amazing or fascinating.

I found these at a discount store, and for that price, they are quite a steal. They are fun to have, or would make nice gift inserts or tags. I personally intend to find a cut out mat for about 6 of them and frame them as a group.

Jane Austen fan here and I had to buy this item.
Paper quality is excellent. Colors are perfect. Artistic appearance is superb.
Jane would have wanted these as well.
