This book is an excellent analysis of the Gospels, life and words of Jesus Christ and how the disciples as well as others in the Bible dealt with the fears and crisis in their lives. Mr. Zimak takes the examples of Jesus's life on this Earth and applies the lesseons to our lives and challenges in the present day. All successful action requries us do our best humanly possible and then give the fear or problem to Jesus for Him to take our effort and miraculouly answer to challenge. The author states in summary the solution to our fear is to "... let Jesus do most of the work." (p.17) Mr. Zimak gives us a practical plan of the 5 P's (prepare, present, pray, participate and prize) in facing our fears. The book is well-written, concise and useful!

I received an advance review copy of From Fear to Faith. Writing in a folksy tone, and found it an excellent book. Gary Zimak writes for people who may not have had a very deep faith-life in the past. He emphasizes that having a personal relationship with Jesus and His mother Mary is the key to overcoming your fears.

Gary teaches readers the difference between worrying and prudential preparation, how fear "gives us the opportunity to invite Jesus more deeply into our hearts," and the meaning of the fear of the Lord. He uses down-to-earth examples from his life, as well as numerous stories from the Gospels to illustrate his points.

As one example, Gary uses the story of the Wedding at Cana to show how Mary watches out for her children. She anticipates our needs, leading us away from fear and towards more perfect faith. "She knows how to find Jesus, even when we don't."

Besides a summary of the main points and questions for reflection, each chapter ends with a prayer. Even though I have been on a journey of trust for a couple of years now, I found myself sincerely praying many of these, as I look for God to lead me ever closer to Him.

From Fear to Faith is a quick and easy read. Is there anyone you know who needs to hear more about God's trustworthiness? Do you have a teenager who is a worry-wart? A co-worker who goes to Church on Sunday, but has yet to embrace the Gospel in a more meaningful way? Or perhaps you yourself are ready to delve deeper into your faith for the first time. From Fear to Faith is an excellent tool for not only overcoming worries, but also for learning to live each day with and for Christ.

People close to me suffer from anxiety issues, so I actually purchased Gary Zimak's books as gifts. When they came in, however, I picked up a copy and couldn't put it down. Gary approaches the subject of fear and anxiety in a self-disclosing, sensitive, and practical way. His writing style is very easy to read and moves quickly. It feels as if you are sitting down with this author and he is sharing his insights with you.

The book is not a how-to, as much as, it is a journey. Each section concludes with a "Remember, Reflect, and Respond" guide, which makes From Fear to Faith a practical workbook for anyone struggling with anxiety.

I truly enjoy Gary's easy style and reminders as you embark upon this journey. For example, his advice, "Don't be surprised if Satan himself tempts you with the idea that lasting peace is not possible," is followed by his solution to combat this pitfall by keeping your eyes on Jesus.

Mr. Zimak reveals a 'secret weapon' in the fight against worry and anxiety and a pledge to help the reader move past the place that they are stuck (when worry controls your life or prevents you from being truly happy.)

You do not need to struggle with a severe anxiety issue or worry problem to find this book helpful, but if you do, you will find it an invaluable tool in that

We live in very uncertain and turbulent times - suppression of religious beliefs, political correctness limiting free-speech, the increasing danger of a global pandemic with Ebola , ISIL and an increase of global terrorism, the lack of real job growth, health care costs, global competition, and much more. This has bred a world, including the US, were worry and anxiety have become pervasive. Just look substance abuse and the growing use of legally prescribed anti-depressants.

Author Gary Zimak, one who has a self-described penchant for worry (he has suffered from panic attacks), provides a spiritual alternative for managing worry and anxiety in his "From Fear to Faith." His previous book, "A Worriers Guide to the Bible," led to a career in public speaking, a radio show on BlogTalkRadio, and numerous appearances on EWTN. Subsequent responses and questions led to this book. The author notes that "this is a book for those who are tired of living in fear," particularly for those who are spiritually weak and have a "tendency to worry about everything."

He begins with a well-known passage from Mark 4:40 in which Jesus says, "Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?" He then goes on to explain and show how a relationship with Jesus is "the ultimate weapon against fear"...just as Jesus promised.

"From Fear to Faith" explains: how to discern between legitimate and illegitimate fears; how the role of faith in facing our fears; how to build a relationship with Jesus and what this means when dealing with fear and anxiety; how to assess our relationship to Jesus and where we can improve it; how to rely on Our Lady's companionship and direction; and how the miracles in our life will grow with increased faith and will affirm our confidence.

Zimak includes chapters on what we need to prepare, how to be present, the role of prayer and participation, and our need to focus on the prize, salvation, to minimize fear and anxiety. We can experience joy in living every day. Each chapter concludes with points to remember, points to reflect on, and a short prayer in response to what has been provided.

God can bring the good out of worry and anxiety if we let Him. For us, it can lead to increased faith. Suffering from worry and anxiety will always be a part of our life. It cannot be eliminated but it can be faced. Faith is the same path followed by Mary, Joseph, the apostles, and the Saints. All of whom suffered greatly but had great faith.

Gary Zimak seems to be everywhere - television, print, radio - and rightly so. His books cut through theological abstraction to get to the heart of the matter: Knowing Christ Jesus. In this book he unpacks the perennial truth that greater intimacy with Christ lessens the power of fear. His style is conversational, his examples personal and pertinent, and his prescription for spiritual growth (and resultant freedom from fear) is as solid as the four thousand years of Revelation from which it is drawn. I couldn't help but share it with my ten year old who has been struggling with school-related anxiety. When we read it together I enjoyed using the points to remember, reflection questions, and prayers found at the end of each chapter. When a worry pops up, I gently reminder her of the points we have read - Has she done everything in her power to address this worry? If yes, then it's time to put it into Jesus's hands and rest assured that the Lord can take care of it. These are life lessons, and I'm grateful that my daughter will now have Gary's "voice" in her head to coach her.

Wonderful little guide to help you when you have fears, anxieties and worries. I have sent my daughter to psychologists and one psychiatrist and find that when therapy does not meet the needs of their patients the first course of treatment is to double up on meds!! Yes this MAY be helpful in some certain circumstances but oftentimes the individual suffers from a spiritual illness. I myself can attest to the power of God in healing many of these illnesses and Gary Zimaks book is a wonderful tool to help you overcome the big and little stresses of everyday life.
