2.0 out of 5 stars Neither BTO quality nor DVD quality October 14, 2011
By Coug
Format:DVD Audio|Verified Purchase
I'm easy to please, and a positive person, but I was terribly disappointed in this BTO DVD. Who are these guys? The vocals don't sound at all like BTO, and the instrumentals while in some cases are pretty true to the original songs, most other times they are not. On "Let it Ride" the vocals are horrible -- I just couldn't belive it. It sounds like they never practiced, and when they try to harmonize, they are off key. On another song, the lead singer, in his raspy voice yells something to the crowd at the beginning of the song to get them excited, and then he repeats the yell, and then again (that's OK--it's a live performance) but then he continues to repeat his yell, literally about 8 more times. I can't make it to the beginning of the song it is so painful. "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" is the one song that is a pretty faithful rendition of the original, and is the one song on the album that is a pleasure to listen to.

One reason I orderd this, in addition to loving those great old BTO songs, is that this was supposed to be a DVD audio, and I have a sound system that can really play the awesome sounds of a true DVD audio recording. The sound quality and depth of this album is no better than an average CD. I have learned from this that being produced in a DVD audio format does not necessarily mean DVD audio quality.

I think BTO recorded some of the greatest songs of their era that are still classics today. How disappointing it was for me to find out that this album does not capture their magic at all. It shouldn't be because it is a live performance; I have live performance DVDs of other groups that are both fabulous renditions of old songs, and fabulous audio recordings. This DVD is neither.

This is a dvd-audio disc which would not normally include any sort of video. It is an AUDIO format.

5.0 out of 5 stars BTO Live August 21, 2012
Format:DVD Audio|Verified Purchase
Read some of the other reviews and...Audio quality is good and the vocals are clear. Guess you just need the right setup. This is a DVD-Audio disc so video should not be expected. 5.1 is good sounds as if you are there. As a BTO fan since the beginning I found them true to form.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This May 11, 2005
Format:DVD Audio
I thought I was buying concert footage of the band, turns out to be rehashed live early recording that has been available for years on cd.No film footage at all only lousy still pictures that have also been around for years.I hope the band had nothing to do with this ripoff. When will we get a DVD of the band in their heyday of 1974-75.Its got to be out there somewhere.
