5.0 out of 5 stars This is where it all started March 23, 2002
Format:Audio CD
All right all you trance and electronica people....if you really want to find out where the genre started, buy this CD. Giorgio Moroder almost single handedly introduced the world to disco/dance into the electronic age with this ground breaking masterpiece. Yes it has some dated elements, but these are overshadowed by the use of electronics as a viable and legit means of producing hypnotic dance music. As the liner notes state: Only electronic intstruments were used in this recording..this was an understatement. The medley on the B side shows Moroder at his seminal best away from headliners like Donna Summer (although Ms Summer remains as his best vocalist). What more can I say...GET THIS CD...take advantage of Amazons offer and get this along with E=MC2, the next visonary work from the legendary Giorgio Moroder....Keep dancin!!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's the classic of electronic disco August 12, 1999
Format:Audio CD
It is a groundbreaking album from Giorgio, "The Godfather" of electronic disco. A "must have" in your collection if you still remember the 70's.

5.0 out of 5 stars EURODISCO MASTERPIECE: EARLY TRANCE December 27, 2000
Format:Audio CD
This is archetypical electrodisco from the European school as represented by Giorgio, Munich Machine and Cerrone: hypnotic, mesmerising beats creating a magical vibe as the tracks segue seamlessly into each other. The best ones are the title track and its reprise, First Hand Experience ... and I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone - prime examples of early trance music. Just shows you wat can be achieved by synthesizers, a drum machine and disembodied voices - all blended together with expertise to create not only a dancefloor killer but also an addictive listening experience.

1.0 out of 5 stars AVOID The 2004 Remaster! September 4, 2010
By Davidp.
Format:Audio CD
I purchased the 2004 limited edition remaster from 'Hip-O Select' expecting it to be superior to the previous CD release I own. However I was stunned by the DROP in audio fidelity when I popped it in my CD player.

'Hip-O' is a Universal music group subsidiary label, usually known for their high quality repackaging and remastering of older titles, and the 'Hip-O Select' titles are limited releases of albums that are perhaps not popular enough for the expense of a wide release. Judging from previous 'Hip-O' issues I've purchased, I expected this re-release to be the ultimate mastering of this classic album, but alas I was wrong. While the bass response is fine, all of the high end frequencies are compressed, giving the CD a muddy sound, more appropriate from an old, well played cassette tape.

At first I thought it might have been the CD player I was using, but I tried it on another, and it sounded the same. I then pulled out the previous import CD release I have and played the first track for comparison; The sound was bright clean and clear with great bass and crisp highs. This from a CD released in 1992!

I cannot adequately express how deeply disappointed I am in this remastering, especially since it cost me more for this version than the first one I bought. Giorgio's album deserved better than this. I am truly amazed that 'Hip-O' allowed this shoddy a product to be released under their name.

If you truly want the best version of this album, there are two previous releases available. While I cannot vouch for the version on the 'Repertoire' label ( having never heard it ) I can wholeheartedly recommend the 1992 release on the 'Castle Records' label from Germany, as it is the other copy I own and is definitely superior to the American 'Hip-O Select' release.

Disappointing, to say the least.

5.0 out of 5 stars The ultimate paradigm for Electronic Disco. July 12, 2005
By Frank G
Format:Audio CD
During the late seventies, disco was becoming more experimental. Artist and/or producers were incorporating various sounds/elements to the pulsating beat. From rock to nostalgic 40's style music, disco was taking on different forms. But there were very few artist who best exemplfied this type of experimentation. Point in case, In regards to electronic disco, Giorgio Moroder was at the top of his game, creating this melodic electronic masterpiece in 1977, and in the process, setting the blue print for electronic dance music. FROM HERE TO ETERNITY contains some of the most hypnotic, infecious disco music ever conceived. From the title track to the albums concluding track "Too Hot to Handle", this is synthized disco at it's best! FROM HERE TO ETERNITY has retained its freshness after so many years! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

5.0 out of 5 stars What can I say January 4, 2007
Format:Audio CD
Moroder's a hero! A true visionary man that created (among so many others...) Donna Summer's "Bad Girls", one of my all time fave albums.

This one is as essential for a disco fan, as some Velvet Underground record is to a rock fan. Do I need to say more???

5.0 out of 5 stars Electronic Music History February 14, 2005
Format:Audio CD
Anyone who could ever consider themself a fan of electronic music, be it the Neptunes or Aphex Twin, must hear this album. It is simply awesome. Moroder paved the way for techno music fully solidifying the idea that music can be made with synths, and later on, computers. The songs still retain that disco soul, that can often be lacking in a lot electronic music and pop today. This is really the perfect balance of old school disco beats and astonishingly modern sounding electronica. A definite must have.
