Introducing the Singing Saxstress: Ava Lemert. From My Soul is the smash debut of a unique talent who's star is just starting to shine in a often dull and predictable pop-jazz landscape. While she is pictured with one of her horns, what really sets Ms. Lemert apart is the surprising power of her vocals and songwriting abilities. There is only one cover tune which is a fun contemporary R&B remake of the early Wham U.K. song "Nothing Looks the Same in the Light." The nine tracks are an intricate and varied blend of classic soul, tear the roof off funk, fresh urban originals and a smattering of contemporary jazz. Ava's keen ear for harmonies that combine both her seductive vocals and smooth saxophones is fortified by her abilities at penning sweet hooks and fresh arrangements into passionate funky music that smooths and soothes with raw emotion, power and overflowing soul.

What an awesome CD. On each track you can hear her passion and love for Jazz and Blues. Her voice can melt you one moment and make you take notice the next. Her sax playing has a style all its own. All her emotions come out when she plays. You can hear that this CD came from her heart. You just aren't listening to words and notes, you are listening to a story, a story that I can listen to again and again and again. Awesome job, Ava!! --Dan H., Amazon.com CD review
