I read lots about Paris and found this book in the bibliography of another Paris book. Luckily one of the booksellers on Amazon had a really good used copy to sell. It was written in 1936. Richard describes his daily life while living in a 7th floor walkup on the Left Bank: people, famous places, markets, walking, historical events, street names. I read it a month ago but will probably begin rereading it as there's so much to ponder; I know I'll find it just as interesting the second time around. Definitely worth searching for among the smaller bookstores.

Much of what the author writes about is gone now as Paris is changing rapidly. Yet, it was a pleasant read with some interesting anecdotes, especially from the time of the Revolution.
