One listen to this album and you will love it. A modern 60's rock n roll band. Their music resembles their influences such as Dylan and the Beatles but they put their own modern touch into this debut album. Can't wait to hear more from them.

I felt compelled to write this review (and buy the album) based on one song I heard on the radio -- The Rosewood Thieve's "Back Home To Harlem". It was one of those songs you hear and you have to hear again and again. I can't get over how much this song sounds like some great lost Beatles song.

So I bought the album, EP really, and was very pleased. All the songs are good, and you really get a feel for the group's distinct sound - which I would loosely describe as the Beatles during their "country" White Album stage. But enough about the Beatles. They aren't putting out any more albums. But I sure hope the Rosewood Thieves do.

From their new, yet old look AND sound, these guys have got it totally right! A throw back to a time when the music was pure & simple & fun to listen to. So many have attempted this in the past but just never were able to pull it off successfully.
It's a gutsy thing for a young band to take on covering the likes of Dylan, but from the organ to the harmonica, they got that vibe down to perfection.

I listen to the tune Los Angeles & if I believed in that kind of thing, I would think they're channeling John Lennon; I can even 'imagine' him doing it.

Then with a voice like thick smoke, Eric Jordan delivers a raspy yet smooth sound. Jordan's voice can have a magnanimous, sultry, rough appeal, yet in the song "Cold in the Country" you get a more dreamy melodic tone. "Cold in the Country" portrays the feeling of a deep loneliness, the acoustic guitar on this track elevates your mind so you can almost feel the loss he is going through.
Another song that stands out on the album is the angst-filled "Back Home to Harlem." With this sexy intro, it belts out a tale of a break up gone bad, jealousy ensues, and the song takes off with lyrics like "Oh my love, you said you wanted somebody else, well you got him." The organ played by Mckenzie Vernacchio sets a spicy tone for the song and the guitar tango breakdown at the end makes the song my favorite on the record.

To sum up, The Decker House album brings you a variety of music types. It gives you rock-n-roll/soul, & on some songs there's that distinct twangy sound. If you are looking for a record that will steal your attention, then The Rosewood Thieves are it.
I predict an instant classic & you can quote me on that! I can hardly wait til I go see them in Philly Oct. 18.

I'll keep this review short and simple - like the EP. This CD is great, the songs are well written, catchy and the recording sound quality is excellent. My only complaint is that I would like to hear more music from this gifted band. Six first rate tunes is just not enough. If you like music from artists such as Dylan, Dire Straits, Tom Petty, the Byrds, the Band, the Thrills ... etc., then this CD is for you.
