When an album comes along with an obvious "shine" factor it makes my day. This sax man from South Carolina is definitely about to gate crash the big league with this his second album. FROM THE HEART. Born into a seven sibling musical family he attended North Carolina Central University where he studied with Branford Marsalis and gospel saxophonist Donald Hayes prior to becoming a proud member of PHI MU ALPHA sinfonia fraternity of America. Marcus has guested with many well-known Jazz groups including Pieces of a Dream and Four80East and recently won the Capitol Jazz Festival Challenge. The album's killer cuts include the beautifully crafted, high-energy title track, the sensual and lush ballad "Pretty Things" the fusion explosion of "Groove Session 101" and the dramatic "Time for a change."
