Best Major Guide to New Orleans, June 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Frommer's 99 New Orleans (Serial) (Paperback)
As a 3-year resident of the Crescent City, I recommend the Frommer's guide as the most accurate and comprehensive major guide to New Orleans. It's a no-frills, well-organized, well-researched, lively, and accurate portrayal of the city. The author Mary Herczog has obviously spent enough time in the city to know all its quirks as well as its wonders. No guide is perfect (and I'd recommend checking out more than one before making your trip), but if I were told I had to choose only one guidebook, it would be Frommer's without a doubt.

One of the better guides available, February 26, 1999
This review is from: Frommer's 99 New Orleans (Serial) (Paperback)
I visit New Orleans about once every five years, and have been since 1969. Prior to my visits, I try to catch up on what's new. I have found that the Frommer's Guide offers the most useful and practical information, presented in an easy to read and understand format. One regret though, is that the physical size of the guide has grown over the years, it's approaching briefcase size rather than pocket size.
