It is still not too late to plan an Alaska cruise for the 2011 Summer/Fall season. Here is the best 'cruise consultant' book for the first time as well as seasoned explorer. The authors offer help in everything from planning, booking and getting the best price, packing, major cruise lines, the ships big and small, ports, shore excursions, and seeing port towns on your own in an inexpensive way. Of course, those who have more time can see the wilderness, gulf and inside passage in great detail. All the help is in this book. Comprehensive, thorough, and practical presentation on how to enjoy the essence and beauty of Alaska through the waters. Alaska being a 'must see' place, this companion-book will be very handy.

We are about to take a cruise to Alaska from Seattle on Celebrity Cruises. This book was one among many to choose from, but I chose this one because there was a large section talking specifically about Celebrity Cruises. Actually, they cover all the cruise lines well. I liked the format of the book which was easy to read and it gave me the information that I wanted.

I bought a year old, used copy, for pennies but feel the info is still relevant.

We are going to be in several ports for a day or less. Frommer's gives us just what we need to know to make the most of those brief visits. The coverage was broad and deep, with excellent maps, directions, addresses, websites, phone numbers, and useful descriptions helping everyone in our party prioritize, plan, to make the most of our limited time in all our ports of call plus more.

We've just finished our Alaskan cruise/land tour vacation and the Frommer's guide was right on target. The guide was especially helpful in choosing optional land tours.Well worth the money.
