They'll show you the most scenic drives, and take you outdoors for desert hikes, superb golf, thrilling white-water rafting, horseback riding, and more. Serious shoppers will appreciate our insider advice on finding the best of local art galleries and the most intriguing regional crafts, rugs, and pottery. 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Guide! Glad I got this one, June 24, 2007
This review is from: Frommer's Arizona 2007 (Frommer's Complete Guides) (Paperback)
I didn't buy this online. I visited the local bookstore and took every book on Arizona off the shelf and looked at them all and chose this book because it had what I considered the best overall layout and approach. It turned out to be an **excellent** guide for our week-long Arizona trip. The book provides just enough information on each area as well as suggested drives and activities. I found it to be extremely helpful. Unlike other guidebooks, this one has a personality shining through. There's a person behind the information---you'll find language like 'this is my favorite..." or "...is why I like this ..." Some of the descriptive passages are very well-written. The information was timely and helpful, too. We constantly referred to it and felt very good about our choice of guidebooks. It was so helpful, I made a mental note to go back and write this review...

5.0 out of 5 stars WORTH THE PRICE, May 6, 2008
This was an excellent guide for people who have never been to Arizona. You can't get lost with it. The way it's organized makes it easy to read. You can go directly to the section you need without wasting time flipping the pages.

I used this guidebook on my recent trip to Arizona. It was accurate and a handy guide to have. It did not, however blaze any trails. What I mean by this is that the author does not uncover many gems, but gives precise information about what is fairly well known. Also, like many guidebooks, does not want to give thumbs down to any tourist attraction. For example, we went out of our way leaving the grand canyon to visit the Cameron Trading Post, which is a quaint sounding name for an overpriced store of Native American handiwork. The author did say that the Trading Post sold some fine and expensive products, but did not say that it is an overpriced tourist trap. Had he wrote this, it would saved us wasted hours.
However I gave the book 5 stars because it did help alot on our trip.
