This review is from: Frommer's Canada (Paperback)
As per Frommer's usual, this was an inclusive and informative book. We were looking at traveling to many of the National and Provincial Parks and found good information.

This guide is lacking too many things for me to perceive it useful. First, the pricing is not accurate. Even though it's claimed to be published this year, the prices for the hotels and restaurants were as much as 2 times off the values we encountered during the trip in June. Second, it has very little "cultural" component. The description of the cities is mostly devoted to the hotels and restaurants, which I find to be much easier to inquire about in the internet (plus, it's not very accurate, even forgetting about the weird prices, I mentioned earlier). Information on history and peculiarities of such the cities as Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto is presented on 2 pages and is quite boring and incomplete, compared to wikitravel, e.g.. Overall, even though it's written in a fine style and is pleasant in outlook, the book turned out to be completely useless during the travel and we couldn't avoid reading wikitravel + googling for hotels.

I found this travel review somewhat lacking. A friend loaned us a similar book from another company which was much more complete and professionally done.

I am impressed with the information and layout in this book. I bought a Rick Steves book for a recent trip to Norway and was disappointed he left out important basic information. So I really appreciate this book.

Vancouver's hip gallery, dining, and nightlife scenes; the art museums and architectural highlights of Toronto; Calgary's wild and woolly Stampede; and Montréal's charming French bistros and cafes. I learned all about Canada's great outdoors, from hiking in the national parks to biking its lovely backroads. It even pointed out the best places to spot puffins, whales, polar bears, moose, elk, and more.
