About the Author

A third-generation San Diego native, David Swanson “researched” the zoo, beaches, and museums of his hometown long before he carried a notepad to do it. Since 1995, his writing and photography has appeared in more than 45 North American newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Miami Herald, and The Globe and Mail. His work also regularly appears in National Geographic Traveler, Caribbean Travel & Life and TravelAge West.
