Frommers is our normal backup to Rick Steves,

We have always liked Frommers and have subscribed to his "Budget Travel" magazine for some years now. In unfamiliar areas we like having a second opinion on lodging from [..] and Frommers fits the bill. More thorough that Rick Steves guides (which we heavily rely upon)... Unfortunately,as a result of the size we usually "tear out" sections before we leave rather that take the whole guide book with us.

Awful. If you want a list of Hotels and restaurants that have paid to be included in this guide-this is for you. If you want useful information on what to see and what to do-buy anything else. This guide has so little information that we left it in our hotel room in Germany. Just not very helpful.

I am going to Germany with my family, we will spend new year's eve there, I wanted to find a nice places for my family to visit. This guide compared to the Austria and Swiss ones was way below. Now I think a Lonely Planet would have been much better.

As always Frommers has done all the work for you. Easy to use with many helpful hints. This is my third book and am well satisfied.

Printing false facts,

I visited Germany last October for Oktoberfest, and when I read that the traditional white sausage (weisswurst) contained calf-brains, I refused to eat it. My German friends couldn't see what the problem was, and I told them that eating brains was gross. They laughed, and I told them that I read it in my travel guide (Frommer's). So we looked up the actual recipe, and it DOES NOT contain brains, and it most certainly is delicious. The point is that Frommer's printed false information, and I looked stupid because of it. I threw it away afterwards to lay with the rest of the garbage.
